I have a '95 2.4L pickup, and the intake air temperature sensor is mounted (from the bottom) in the air cleaner housing. If you take the top off, lift out the air filter, you will see the sensor top in the circular plate surrounding the throttle body. On mine, one of the two wires running to the sensor was broken. I spliced the wire, and the problem was solved.

Hi Old Marine! I came across the same problem.. I was checking the air cleaner housing, in which I noticed the 2 wires on the Air Temp sensor were not connected. From what I see, the wires were worn out and disconnected from the base. Would there be an easy fix? or am I better off getting a new air temp. sensor?

2005. Where is the intake air temperature sensor?

Since you did not provide engine code it is hard to be specific. However, in general, IAT sensors are placed along the air intake routes. Some are inserted into the rubber hose between the air cleaner and the throttle body.

If a car uses MAF ( Mass Air Flow) sensor, the IAT is an integral part of it.

I have diagnosed my 2001 Nissan xtrail with 2 errors: P0102 mass or volume air flow circuit low imput & P0113 intake air temperature circuit high imput. How do I go about fixing these issues?

You buy service repair info. (manual) an do the diagnostic procedures for those code's . Which include testing the electrical circuit's . or view video's on youtube showing how to diagnose .

YOU HAVEN"T DIAGNOSED ANYTHING YET ! YOU READ CODES ,THAT'S ALL
I have diagnosed my 2001 Nissan xtrail with 2 errors: P0102 mass or volume air flow circuit low imput & P0113 intake air Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

03 Nissan Altima showing codes P0304,P0102,P0154,P0113 what are they and how do i repair the problems.

Hi Chris.

p0304 = Number 4 Cylinder Misfire Detected

Faulty spark plug 4
Clogged or faulty fuel injector 4
Faulty ignition coil 4
Fuel injector 4 harness is open or shorted
Fuel injector 4 circuit poor electrical connection
Ignition coil 4 harness is open or shorted
Ignition coil 4 circuit poor electrical connection
Insufficient cylinder 4 compression
Incorrect fuel pressure
Intake air leak

The P0304 code means that the cylinder 4 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 4.

p0102 = Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input

Faulty mass air flow sensor
Intake air leaks
Dirty mass air flow sensor
Dirty mass air filter
Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection

Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner.
Reset code and drive vehicle.
If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.

p0154 = O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Sensor 1 Bank 2

Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2
Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 harness is open or shorted
Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 circuit poor electrical connection
Inappropriate fuel pressure
Faulty fuel injectors
Intake air leaks may be faulty
Exhaust gas leaks

Replacing the Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 usually takes care of the problem.

p0113 = Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High

Faulty Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
Dirty air filter
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor harness is open or shorted
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor circuit poor electrical connection

The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is built into mass air flow sensor or in some vehicles mounted to the air filter duct housing. The sensor detects intake air temperature and transmits a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).The temperature sensing unit uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases in response to the temperature rise. The Intake Air Temperature signal is used as an input for various systems in the vehicle.

Hope this helps

Where is the intake air temperature located on a 1997 Nissan 4X4 hardbody pickup 4 cylinder?

The intake air temp sensor is a common issues on the '97, but I don't really know why. Look underneath the air intake box where the filter is housed. You'll see a harness, and a bulb-like device going inside the air box, that is the sensor. You can get one from your local auto parts store. I hope that you have found this information useful.

Replacing temp sensor

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Operation The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is a variable temperature sensitive resistor. Sensor resistance will change based on air temperature. The higher the temperature, the lower the resistance. The Engine Management System (EMS) provides a reference voltage and monitors the voltage drop between a fixed value internal resistance and the sensor resistance. This is called a voltage divider circuit.
IAT sensor values are used by the EMS to assist with the calculation of idle speed, fuel mixture and spark advance.
Inaccurate voltages from the IAT sensor may affect pulse-width, idle quality and tail pipe emissions. Intermittent signals may cause hesitation, stumble and surging. If an IAT sensor failure accompanies an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor failure cooling fan operation may also be affected.
Some manufacturers' incorporate the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor as part of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, or air flow meter. Refer to current service information for specific applications.
Related Symptoms The following symptoms can be caused by a faulty IAT sensor due to loose connections, bad grounds, high resistance in the circuit, or opens in the circuit.
  • Extended crank time when the engine is cold
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Spark knock
