Looking for the firing order for a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4. and how it would look on the distributor cap thanks bob

it all depends on if you have a v6 or a v8 under the hood... v6-1,6,5,4,3,2 with number one at the front right engine cylinder and number two on the left front engine cylinder, number one on the distributor cap should be at 9 o' clock when looking at the engine from the front... v8-1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 also number 1 cylinder at the engine's front driver's side, with number 2 cylinder on the passenger side most front cylinder, number one on the distributor cap should be at 7 o' clock when looking at the front of the engine... also both distributor shafts run clockwise, so should your firing order... or ya bang...

2.5L Engine Firing Order: 1-3-4-2 Distributor Rotation: Clockwise

3.9L Engine Firing Order: 1-6-5-4-3-2 Distributor Rotation: Clockwise

5.2L and 5.9L Engines Firing Order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Distributor rotation: Clockwise

5.2L and 5.9L V8 Engine Firing Order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.Distributor Rotation: Clockwise

The distributor firing order on a v-6 is 1-6-5-4-3-2. Looking from the front of the engine with distributor cap in place the #2 distributor tower should be looking at #6 cylinder on engine. On a v-8 the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Looking from the front of engine the #1 distributor tower should be looking at the #8 cylinder on engine. Both distributors turn in a clockwise rotation. look at your distributor cap while standing on the driver's side of the vehicle.
Start at number 1, which is labelled on the cap, and go
clockwise
