Open the hatch and the tailgate.

Remove the two mounting screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver, and remove the taillight assembly from the body by pulling it back.

Determine which of the three bulbs is burned out: brake/taillight, turn signal light or backup light. (I assume you’ve already determined this)

Remove the socket by turning it one-quarter turn counterclockwise.

Pull the bulb straight out of its socket.

Push the new bulb straight into the socket until it bottoms.

Reinstall the socket into the light assembly by turning it clockwise until it locks.

Test the lights to make sure the new bulb is working.

When reinstalling the taillight assembly, first place the two pins in the holes in place. Tighten the two mounting bolts.

Hope this is helpful to you.

It sounds more like a fuse burned out. There is a fuse box under the steering column. A map of the fuses is located on the door of the box. One should be labeled something like brake light. Find the corresponding fuse and check to see if it is burned out.

There is NOTHING on the interior fusebox that resembles 'brake light.' On the fuse box under the hood, there is a fuse marked 'Horn, stop' but this fuse was fine. A little more help, please?

The Tail Lights Are Accessed From The Inside Of The Trunk There Will Either Be A Panel Immediately Behind Where The Light Is Or Carpet. Remove It And It Will Give You Access To The Rear Of The Bolts Just Grab Twist And Pull And The Light Will Come Out.

SOURCE: i cant get the tail light out to change the bulb

No tools needed.

Beetles: Round plug inside trunk pops out.
Beetle Convts: Grille-looking rectangular panel pops out.

Reach in and you'll feel a large finger-grip able nut, back it off (DON'T DROP
IT) and place it somewhere retrievable. Take a small-flat-bladed screwdriver and wrap it in cloth so you don't scratch the paint. Poke said protected blade between the inside body joint and the tail light, gently pry tail light out. Remove offending bulb, replace with new. Installation is, as they say, the reverse of removal.

SOURCE: change dashboard light bulb in 2002 Honda Accord EX V6

you will need fill up screw driver and a flat head remove the 2 screws that hole the BLK panel . then you use your flat head gently push up and out on the lower left and right coroners . be very carefull make sure you got time no rush. NOTE : make sure you go pick up the LIGHTS I USED sylvania lights part #74 LL YOU WILL NEED 14 OF THEM COST 4.99 FOR A SET OF 2 AND IF YOU HAVE AUTOMATIC CAR YOU WILL NEED CALL A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND FIND OUT IF THEY HAVE THE ONES THAT LIGHT UP WHEN YOU CHANGE GEARS.

  • after you got the BLK panel off you will see 2 gold screw do not take them off.
  • remove 4 BLK screw , two of them will be next to the gold screw . the other will be right on the top
  • after you got the screws off
  • stat pulling out the dashboard out slowly ..
  • after you see that the dashboard dosen't want to come out you should be able to see these 3 green wire connection one on the left , right and one in the middle
  • I use a long flat screw driver to push the small clip in the middle then at the same time push up.
  • one you took off all 3 you can pull it out .(CAREFULLY)
  • TWIST OFF THE SMALL BLK ONES OFF VERY EASY YOU CAN BUY AT ANY AUTO STORE . BUT FOR THE ONE THAT LIGHT UP WHEN YOU CHANGE GEARS IF YOU AUTOMATIC YOU WILL HAVE TO GET THEM FORM THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR THE WHT ONES I STILL don't know how to take them off . am going to see if honda can give me a hand .
  • just to let you now am also changing the clock light and the Cruise control/TCS button light also
  • O I for got change all the lights in the dashboard cause it is a b***h to take it off.
  • hopefully this helps

2005 Chevy Equinox passenger side tailight doesn't work. Brake light, turn signal, and hazard work but unit does not illuminate at night. Easy fix ?

Have you tried swapping the bulb from the other side see if that works If not check for power and ground at the tail lamp circuit that is inoperative. Also take a good look at the connector(s) make sure there is no corrosion in the terminals.

98 Honda accord ex, brake lights work when step on brake but headlights on tail lights not working.

check your bulbs because the tail lights are twin element one for lights and the other for brake lights. Probably the lights element is broken and only brake lights are working. The other possibility is either the tail light fuse or relay not working.

I have a 1998 honda accord. the tail lights work but when i hit the brakes the lights dont get brighter

the tail lights and stop lights are two separate bulbs or elements. You either have a blown stop light fuse or you need to replace the stop light bulb.

hope this helps.

Where is the fuse for the right side tail light?

hi if it is only the one bulb not working/tail light and the front light on same side is working along with number plate and other tail lights may i suggest you replace/check the bulb on defective light as if fuse had blown ? the front light on same side would not be working if you put ignition on and press brake your brake light shoul work ? if so change the bulb as the bulb has two elements inside tail light and a higher wattage element for brake light

Mazda 3 tail light on, brake light not on

The bulb actually has two seperate elements in it.
That is why the tail light works fine.

If you take the bulb out you will see the seperate elements.
Change the bulb and it should be fine.
