My 2005 Ram 1500 4.7 started running bad the other day after the engine light came on a few hours earlier. I have replaced the cam sensor and the throttle position sensor. It ran 200+ miles fine and then started again this afternoon. It dies or runs rough. It idles fine and at low RPM's seems ok. Picking up the idle a little while in park, it runs fine until around 1700 RPM's + and then the engine constantly bounces around as if I were giving it the gas and letting off back and forth. Then at idle it seems to run fine again. Does anyone know what else I can try? Thanks

crankshaft sensor
stop here, this error P03xx most not be ignored ever, and you did.
all other words there are normal. for bad CKP sensors
to make spark (called precursors)
CKP must be 100% good
then CMP some DOHC with VVT have 4. .
and on modern cars 2007 they PCM sees them out of sync
it cuts spark to not bend head valves over, (a wise bit of logic)
this is push round roller rocker central cam.
so chain cam simple engine,
the CKP sensor is bad. and easy fix
you did not post all P03xx DTC codes, at all, but if it only said, ckp fails then only it is bad,
why mention cam when crank sensors fails.
Have you checked for a broken valve spring. Repaired a dodge engine with the same running issue as you have described and it was a broken intake valve spring.
Could be a long list of things, including low fuel pressure, throttle position sensor, EGR valve, dirty air filter, and so on. Is the check engine light on ? Does it feel like it is lacking fuel, or air ? Is it not downshifting when it should ?
This may not help you much, but
as long as you have a check light on,
cam sensor codes etc,you should be
working on those issues, not trying to
drive it.
Don't mean to be hurtful,but if I couldn't
start my truck in 2 min,I would start to
diagnose the issue.
I had the same problem with my '05 Stratus SXT 2.4 DOHC. I've replaced the cam pos sensor and it seems to be running fine right now. On the Dodge forums a lot of the guys say that you need to replace the crank pos sensor too. I've bought one of those just in case it comes back again. Hope this helps.
