Lexus LS 400 1991 Transmission slipping after Trainsmission

MY lexus 400 was driving fine i was getting off the freeway and came to a stop sign. when i stepped on the gas the rpm gage was going but the car wouldn't accellerate then it wouldn't go in reverse.I turned the car off then restarted it then it drove a while warmed up a little and then the rpm gage was going again but the car would't accellerate again. Turned off the car and it continued this way.
