The switch, high blower speed relay or the wire harness at the blower motor has gone bad. The highest setting 5 has no resistor, so the blower runs on high but the high current flow ends up burning up the switch's contact on that setting or the relay and may be the resistor wire harness at the blower motor has gone bad. Common would be the switch it self, if the switch is good. Then it's going to be the blower relay or wire leads at the speed resistor by the blower motor under the glove box by the passenger leg compartment. Keep me posted, be glad to help you get your Silverado running 100% again soon.

05 silverado relay in the resistor keeps burning up not the resisitor speed cicuit. Could it be the fan drawing to many amps?

Yes the Blower fan it self draws to much current for the wire size, there is an up grade to the blower wire harness for your Silverado. Before going off to buy the new harness, check with the GM dealer to see if there was any recall for that issue. Doesn't hurt to see if the upgraded parts for your blower system is covered under a TSB issue.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

My fan blower will not work on high speed on my chevy 2005 silverado

if you got heat on all speeds and the blower motor is working properly then you probably need a new HVAC switch.

Blower motor on a chevy colorado p/u truck 2006 only runs on high speed setting

The Blower Motor Resistor burned out. The resistor drops the voltage down for your lower speeds, when it dies you only 1 speed. It's mounted to the side of the Heaterbox under the dash. It'll have a Plug on it with 4 or 5 wires, should be held in with two 8mm bolts

there could be partial contact in the blower controls which has resulted in total loss of contact, in blower speed affected. replacement of the entire blower control switch should resolve it

2006 GMC Envoy I6 HVAC fan stopped working. Level 5 stopped about 6-months ago and now it doesn't work at all. I checked all fuses and the cooling fan relay but still not working.

If high speed went out first, then it is the switch.
There is the most arcing in the switch at high speed.
If there was motor or relay trouble, it would effect all speeds.
If there were problems with the ballast resistor, it would effect lower speeds.

Hidh speed on heater blower. In other words

Yup. Refer to your owner's manual for location. The HIGH side of the blower is fused on it's own circuit, usually a 15 AMP fuse.
Good Luck . . .

The fan in my truck only turns on on high speed.

A bad blower motor resistor will cause it. It is located ny the blower motor p.s. below dash.

2000 silverado a/c only works on high fan speed. Blows ice cold. But lowering fan speed, or adding heat to adjust temperature causes compressor to cut out.

Hi! The blower resistor is the culprit here, located on passenger side of vehicle under glove box area. I have replaced several of these for the same problem. You also need to check the connector for the resistor for heat damage to terminals and replace as needed. The harness will come with wiring attatched and heat shrink **** splice sleeves. hope you find this information useful!

Blower fan only works on high

If it is working at all then the relay and fuse is good and the problem is either the little vacuum hose on the back of the control switch panel or the panel itself.

Chevrolet Silverado Fan blower only works on high (5)

The blower motorresister is bad. It controls the blower speeds for low, medium speeds. It is in the air stream of the blower plenum, usually under the hood on the passenger side at the fire wall.

Usually held in with 2 screws and has a wire connector with 4 or 5 wires in it. You can do this repair. Part is available at most auto stores.
