What is causing my starter to engage while the motor is running and won't quit until you unhook the battery?

Ouch! Sounds like the Bendix on the starter motor could have been damaged, or possibly the starter relay. I'd check the relay first. With ignition and engine off. pull the small terminal on the relay terminal Labeled "S" for start. It is next to the Battery terminal. (See enlarged pix on the link below.) Next, try to start the engine. It should not even try. Then, reconnect the starter wire to the relay. Have a friend start the engine and then pull the wire from the "S" terminal. If pulling the wire kills he engine, the you probably have a bad ignition switch. If the starter motor is still engaged with engine running, then I'd suspect a stuck relay or stuck Bendix. Since the relay is the cheaper component of the two (10 to 25 bucks), I'd change the relay. If the relay doesn't remedy the situation, It's time to replace the starter/Bandix.

Going down the road runs great then starts loosing charge sit awhile and push off runs great. put new altenater on it i can reve motor up if running lights and starts running good

Either have a bad battery, sometimes they go bad and the symptom is a "self" discharge that will run it down in a few days..
or.
You have something inside the car that's running it down.

The way to check is to unhook the battery for the time that its down and see if the battery is dead when you return. If the battery goes flat unhooked, you have a bad battery. If the battey holds its charge while unhooked you have a drain from the car.

Your car I think was bad about one of the cooling fan relays sticking "on". Just something to be aware of.

Heater blower stopped running. does the heater fuse/circuit breaker affect this?

yes most likely the problem, however i had the fan motor
go, and the fan switch go. start with the fuse then, motor. you can test motor by supplying power straight
after you unhook it using a 12v battery. You best bet is
to buy a manual at a local wall mart or canadian tire for
about 29.95 which will let you repair just about anything.

2001 Volvo Fan - Unrealiable

Most likely the heater motor. To check tap the heater motor with it switched on if it starts blowing then thats the problem. to fix it's best to replace it I have tried to fix them and will work again until the next bump then they stopped again. It could also be a bad connection but this is unlikely as it won't come on at any setting. Cheers

The heater fan has stopped working on my 2000 Hyundai accent. Any ideas?

Perform a 'SHOCK' test of the blower motor (shock means HIT it. If it starts working, the brushes in the motor are worn out. If it doesn't start working, further diagnoses is required... check to see if you have power (battery voltage) and ground (continuity to chassis). if you have power and ground at the motor connector, then the problem is solved.. the motor is bad.

Jeep Wrangler Heater Fan

First, check for power (12v) at the fan plug. If you have power, the fan motor is shot. (replace it).You can "hotwire"the blower right to the battery to verify motor failure... don't forget the motor housing needs to be properly grounded or power is useless!!
If no power, check the blower motor resistors (located on the firewall side of the heater box... usually looks like an oval flat plate with three or four wires connected to it. When removed, you will see two or three small coils: they should not be broken. Upstream from that you may need to look at the blower relay. Generally by the time you get to that, you have already solved the problem. If not, get a good wiring diagram before going further!
