I have a 2004 toyota tacoma V6 and my engine malfunction light stays on. I topped off all the fluids, change gas caps, checked all the fuses but still stays on.

Large evap leak will set this light also. Have the codes read. Most large leaks are from a bad vent solenoid.

? If the brake light is on, check your break fluid level first & top it off. If not, check your break lights - one could be out. Last - it's likely your pads are worn down & need new breaks. Have it checked.

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

Low Fluid levels do not turn on the CEL

Based on what you've written, I'd say you've got a bad radiator. Fix the leak and then see if it still overheats

Hello! Those three codes commonly indicate the followi possibilities:

The gas cap was not sufficiently tightenend ater fueling, a bad gas-cap rubber o-ring, the vehicle had the key in the 'on', or engine running, or the tank was filed all of the way up the neck.

Any one of the abope causes will set all three codes.

if the converter was bad the engine would loose power . alot of times the check engine light will come on for the emmitions check youre gas cap some vehicles will send a signal to the computer if the co is not right and by changing the gas cap solved the problem .

The battery light comes on if the battery voltage is too low. Check you battery voltage. It should be above 12V with the engine running. If not, the alternator is not working. Next, check if there is power on the FIELD terminal of the alternator. Again, you should have 12+V. Check if the Alternator fuse is blown.

At first it will cost you from $60-70 (Midas) to nothing if you go to the nearest parts store (you need to call them and ask if they do it for free, I can suggest Autozone) and do the computer diagnostic of your car to get the malfunction codes. After you get the codes you can call the repair shops and get the estimate. But first you can try to do to change the gas station and use a fuel injector cleaner (form $1 to $6 in Walmart).
