Driver window switch not working

If the dome lights on your 2007 Hyundai Tucson do not come on when the driver's side or passenger doors are open, but they do work when you press the interior dome light buttons, there are a few things you can check to try to determine the cause of the issue:

1. Check the door switches: Make sure that the door switches, which are located on the inside of the doors, are working properly. If the switch is not working, it will not send a signal to the dome light to turn on when the door is opened.
2. Check the wiring: Check the wiring that connects the door switches to the dome light. Make sure that the wiring is not damaged or corroded, and that all connections are tight.
3. Check the dome light fuse: Check the fuse for the dome light in the vehicle's fuse box. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one of the same amperage.
4. Check the BCM(Body Control Module): The Body Control Module controls the door switches and the dome light. Make sure that the BCM is not malfunctioning.
5. Check the Sunroof switch: Make sure that the sunroof switch is not malfunctioning, sometimes that switch is used to turn on the dome light, if the switch is not working the dome light will not turn on.

The door switch is located inside of the door latch. You probably have a bad switch and need to have the latch changed. Since the drivers door gets the most use, that is a good place to start.

5wilson, looking at the electrical diagram , the driver's door switch can lock out the windows from opreating completely (I'm not quite sure about the drivers window, but the Driver's door switch is one common denominator. DON'T REPLACE IT JUST BECAUSE I HAVE MENTIONED IT, I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU OTHER PLACES WHICH SUPPLY POWER TO THE WINDOWS FROM ONE SPOT!
Power supplies and grounds: Remove the driver's door switch and the main power supply going into the switch is a TAN wire. This is a switched wire (meaning the windows won't operate withiot the ignition switch on) There is a junction block to the left of the bottom of the steering column (C8), it contains a 30 amp circuit breaker which has the tan wire going to it. Coming off of that same harness before it gets to the circuit breaker, is a window drop relay. (Are you sure you want to mess with this?) The window drop relay is in the driver's door. It has "roughly" 8- 10 wires going to it.There is a black wire also coming off of the switch which grounds to the body. As the harness passes through thee door and connects to the interior harness, the wire is black and tan out of the junction block.. You will need a good test light or digital volt/ohm meter.
I am making the assumption you know how to use a test light and a digital volt/ohm meter.

I hope I haven't made a confising mess for you. Electrical is best left to the pros..

its possible that the window switch or motor has gone. try hitting the door panel sometimes it will get that last little effort

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all you’ll need to check battery voltage, recharge it if it is low or jump start with another battery charger. Inspect, clean and tight both ends of all battery cables. Also check, clean and tight wiring connections. Check for voltage at relay. If relay has voltage but there is no "click" when key is turned to start, replace relay. Remove starter and inspect drive gear and flywheel teeth, replace damaged parts if necessary. Check to see if voltage reaches starter relay/solenoid when turn to start. If not, check for open P/N switch and brake or clutch pedal switch. Please pry the interior panel and release the inside door locks. If still the issue is not resolved then you’ll need to drill a two inch hole into the latch to access the inside lock link through the interior panel. After removing the panel replaces the latch to resolve the issue. See the picture where to drill---

Make sure all door switches are functioning properly. See that each switch pushes in and out, without sticking.

Open one door at a time and press the door button-switch (in the door-frame, hinge side usually) to see if that switch will shut off the light. If you find one that does, either extend the button length slightly with hot glue or epoxy, or replace the switch. Make sure the light has not been turned on at the light or that the switch is bad.

you have a short in your electrical system to your interior harness. check that and check all your relays and fuses to your switches too.

Sounds like a fuse issue. check your panel for popped accessory fuse.

the overhead light issue may be the door close switch

yes there is a relay switch in engine compartment or under dash
