We accidentally overfilled the coolant reservoir in our 1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme. A lot. I'm not sure how to get the fluid out without special equipment. I don't have ramps or special tools. How can I remove enough of the fluid to drive the car? Also, how detrimental is it to drive the car a few blocks in below-freezing temperatures?
Overfilling the overflow tank won't cause any problems for you. I agree with your hubby about a different problem. Get the leaks fixed first then see what happens.
There should be a drain plug on your radiator open it and drain away what you need....alternatively, open either the top or bottom radiaitor hose and drain that way and replace.... simple really!
This should not be a big deal. You can try a syphon tube but DO NOT SWALLOW ANY COOLANT. Or use a large turkey baster to **** up up coolant. It takes awhile though.
The car is fine to drive.

I cant get anything down the reservoir. It's curved in such a way I can't even see inside it. Husband just came in and said it's leaking from a couple places, a spot on the radiator and a hose connection. Also there's fluid all over the serpentine belt and basically everything on that side of the engine. I think perhaps we have a bigger problem. :-(
Thanks though.
