I just had the same problem and read on another post how to fix it. Unlock your car, open and close all the doors, and lock it manually with your key. It worked.

i would bring it down to the shop and have the timing checked and the timing belt or chain replaced....also check for vacuum leaks as this could be a problem..however you can usually check for bad vacuum leaks yourself by once you start teh vehicle pop the hood and listen for any loud hissing sounds.....also teh car wont start anymore? did you see that the fuel pump was operational? also id have the shop put it on the computer odbc and check if its throwing out any codes to tell you whats wrong with it.

Possibly located at the back of the engine behind cylinder head, usually located in a small plastic hose block.

SOURCE: help my audi is jerking

the best i can find from the information i have is it's near the tank (not all that great information) be that as it may i would suggest it is likely a problem with the coil pack or you have water in your fuel. you haven't mentioned how it idles. to test the pack... just unplug one spark plug wire at a time ... if the engine idle doesn't change you have likely located the problem... if it is indeed water in your fuel... add a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze to your tank.... it contains alcohol and will **** up the water.

Hello i got a nissan pathfinder 1994 se v6 i replaced the starter and altenator after having starting problems ran for a day but back to the sam problem no crank no start again

Before replacing expensive units it is worth checking the basics.

The symptoms you describe indicate a battery with problems or a car with a fault causing a constant discharge as if perhaps the boot or trunk light is not switching off, for instance.

I suggest battery is charged and tested and if ok check for a discharge. I once had a car with automatically closing windows and one of the motors wasn't switching off after the windows closed causing several discharged bat before I discovered the cause.

Why does my battery keep dying in my audi 1997 a6? When it's running and the fan kicks on the voltage meter jumps down. When the lights are on and then fan kicks on my lights dim.

The battery seems to have reached end of design life. Replace. Also check charging system for voltage. With engine idling check voltage at battery terminals. It should be about 14 volts.

You need to know Battery Voltage is very important for PCM, Sensors and so on.
With a voltmeter on the battery terminal engine off, with a good full charged battery you should read 12.6v. If not the battery needs to be charge.
Clean battery"s terminals for a good connection and ground terminal body side.

Hope it helps.

My 2001 audi seems to start up fine and but after

have your alternator tested it sounds like your battery is pushing out out the power to your engine which causes the battery to drain. if you can start the car again pull the negative battery cable if the car dies after you remove the cable then your alternator is shot.

The battery on my 2003 Audi A6 keeps dying. I

Sound's like a bad alternator, you can check the alternator by measuring the voltage on the battery when the car is started, it should measure above 12.6 volt's but not higher than 14.5 volt's, check the drive belt tension, a lose or wore drive-belt could cause problem's with the alternator charging the batery, check the battery terminal's for corrosion, along with the connection's of the battery cable's.
Hope this help's, good luck.

Audi a4 1.8 avant 1997

my 97 a4 would start and then die, i had it diagnosed as the immobiliser in the dashboard costing about £600 !!! The battery went flat trying to start it so i took it off the car and charged it up, when i put it back on the car before i took it to get fixed i thought i would try it 1 more time and "hey presto" it started and ran and has not missed a beat since ! That was 2 years ago, it was like the computer had re-set itself with the battery removed for charging, i hope this may be of some help.
