I have a 1997 Toyota Camry - I drove it home from work. Turned it off - took the keys from the ignition and went in the house. About 5 minutes later I returned to the car to take my dog to the vet and the ignition won't unlock - This car does not have any type of theft deterrant system and this has never happened before - what's the problem

the computer system that runs the car itself has a Vehicle Theft Deterrent Module build into the OBD II operating system that runs the ignition timing everything. It does make it neearly impossible to steal the car, only one draw back the Dealer is the only place you can get it serviced.
The ignition relay is faulty.
Look into that.

There is a metal button on the ignition housing. Insert your key press the button while turning the key until the button goes in pull out the tumbler. Let me know if the helps. You need more help I will sent you step by step instructions. Hope that helped u out.
