Cannot erase the key memory for the seat on my

I cannot seem to erase the memory for the seat position on my 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 996 series. I tried several steps to erase the memory and reset the seat but each time I lock the door and reopen, the seat returns to original position from another memory set.
I checked with the dealership and they immediately said it was a faulty control unit for the seat memory and it would cost over a $1000.00 to replace.

Any other options or suggestions I could try

I have Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4 2001 And no simcard is working?

If no sim card is working in the audio unit it is more than likely an audio unit fault but to be 100% sure it needs to go on a Porsche diagnostic machine and read out faults. This is because the audio unit is a module called PCM which controls all the entertainment systems on that vehicle. Also the aerial need to be check but can also be done at the same time

What is the comon fault

The most serious common faults are with the standard 3.4 engine in the early 996 Carrera models (not applicable to Turbo engined vehicles which is a different engine design):

1. The engine cylinder liners develop hairline cracks. (Engine replacement or rebuild required).

2. The intermediate shaft bearings fail in these engines (a well known design fault). Failure requires engine replacement.

3. The rear main seals in the engines fail as exhibited by a slowly worsening oil leak. The seal needs to be replaced when they leak. It's an expensive job.

Problems 1 and 2 are serious have resulted in many engine replacements. Problems 2 and 3 remained when Porsche upgraded to the standard 3.6 engine in the series two 996 Carrera models (problems not applicable to Turbo engines)..

There are a few other issues such as Air Conditioning condensers that clog up with road debris and eventually become porous and fail.

996 carrera leak from expansion tank

The shouting was over long ago. Like it or not, and for a multitude of reasons, had to develop a new 911 in order to continue producing one at all. Carrera faithful revolted over such radical notions as a water-cooled powerplant, a longer wheelbase, and more comfort. Power steering-how could it be? These philosophical issues don't really matter anymore, because the old 911 went out of production after the '98 model year, an all-new 911 appeared for '99, and that was that. So we're not here to debate the relative merits of the newcomer versus the classic. That battle is over-or will wage forever, depending upon which side you sit. But the question remains: Is the 996-platformed Carrera a great sports car in its own right? Only a year behind the wheel would tell us.

Where can i find a manual for the PCM Sat Nav on a Porsche (996)

If you don't have a Porsche dealer near you, check eBay for a Nav manual. Your car should have come with one though. Good luck!

Car remote keys won't open the car

Look in the manual to see how to make the car "learn" the remote's code. Failing that, look for a box with lot of wires under a seat or find where computer that controls that is in your car. Press the learn button on the box, and push the door lock button on the remote a couple times.

996 turbo convertible

remove the plastic trim cover inside at the front where the latch secures to the top of the front screen, then remove the 2 small plugs in the rear interior trims behind rear seats on side panels. Using the special allen key tool turn the catches approx 90 degrees to release the rear of the hood, then simply lift off and back
