Try spraying some easy start into the air intake while someone operates the starter if it trys to start you have a fuel system fault have you checked fuel pressure at injector rail you need to do this using gauge and check against volvo spec if low it will never run if ok check feeds to injectors using multimeter if no feed check relevent fuses if ok using multimeter check continuety of injector wireing back to ecu if it did not try to start using easy start check timing belt is ok and engine has compression

I HAVE A 1988 CHEVY VAN G20 5.7 I CHECKED TIMEING CHAIN NEW PLUGS,PLUG WIRES,DIST CAP, ROTOR,COIL,FLUSHED FUEL TANK,NEW FUEL PUMP AND FILTER I HAVE GOOD FUEL PRESSURE,GOOD COMPRESSION,THE PROBLEM IS SPARK,...

1/ Have you fitted the spark plug leads in the proper firing order.
2/ Look inside the top of distributor Top (this is not the first time a new distributer cap has very small crack) or the rotor arm is fitting the cap properly. Hope this helps Best Wishes, Malcolm Campbell.

NO SPARK PUT A NEW COIL ON DID NOT FIX TOOK IT TO A GSRAGE SAID IT NEEDED A CRANK SENSOR CAM SENSOR WIRES PLUGS DIST CAP AND ROTER RAN ONE DAY NOW THEY SAID A HOLE DISTRIBUTER AND A TIMEING BELT.I REALLY...

If you are sure they said, a distributer cap a roter and a distributer, there is a problem! Because on a 1998
plymouth, there is no distributer or cap or roter.
Your cam sensor along with the crank sensor-temp sensor and a few other sensors, send a signal to the
powertrain control module, that sends a signal to the
coil pack(that you said was replaced) that fires the
spark plug. I would hold off from having any further
work done there, until you can check out what they
say they have already done. Ask if you can have the
old parts they replaced so far. You will want to have
an OBDII scan test done, to see what codes come up. It should have one of the first tests they did.
If I have read your post correctly, have them write an
estimate for what they will replace next. This info. is
based on the car being a 1998 plymouth and not a
1988 I would not wan't to acuse somone of anything
based on a typo. Hope this helps. Good luck.

95 chevy blazer - engine turning over but not turning. replaced cap & rotor + fuel filter.

3 things make an engine run, fuel, electrics and gearing, first thing, remove the cap and crank the engine, determine if the rotor is moving, this will eliminate a broken cam, sprockets, chain or broken teeth on the distributer. next with the ignition lights on rotate the roter button by hand in between contacts, you should hear and see small spark, replace the cap and crank engine with a plug lead off, ask a friend to see if it is sparking onto metal nearby. Next remove fuel line and crank engine to see if fuel pushes from the line. then that leaves gearing, timing must be correct, check the lead numbers are in correct firing order and timing is right. Hope this guide helps you, Good luck

Not starting

Make sure your getting spark to the plugs. It must be a good hot spark.
If that's okay then you might have a timing problem with the crank and cam. (Jumped time).
You'll need to check the timing marks on the crank and cam timing gears to make sure they didn't jump out of time.
Check for any vacuum leaks as well.

1997 GMC CRANKS NO START

Go to a library that has a set of the factory service manuals (not Chlton's or Haynes or Motor's). The FSM's will give you all the trouble hotting charts that the dealer techs use.

It will not start up

ok, you need to do some other testing. Turn the ignition on, you should hear a whirrling noise for a few seconds coming from the gas tank
,or have somebody listen with gas cap off.If you don't hear it the fuel pump is bad.If you do hear it, have the crank and cam shaft positioning sensors checked, plus the computor. It's a pain, but with these no start problems, you need to use process of elimination, or keep replacing things you don't need. (expensive).Good luck.
