Under the dash, where the break release handle is, you'll see a lever where the release cable is/was attached to. Either push forward, or pull back this lever and it will release the parking break. BE CAREFUL the foot peddle for the parking break doesn't hit you in the face!
Mine broke on the 2nd of this month as well....

I just had my parking brake cable snap on me also. I'm with Denie 1300, it's right under the dash and has a "U" shape lever facing down. Tug on that and the parking brake will release. As a matter of fact, It's a very simple fix, just need to purchase the cable and replace it. If you take it to a dealership, they'll want to charge you a whole bunch, and it's really an easy fix.

Try looking near the drum, mine was found on the lower driver side,( I have a 95 suburban), there is a cable that runs along the length of the frame that may be covered by a black rubber tube, locate the tube closest to the drum and pull as hard as you can on it, it should knock loose.

The first choice for this solution is to have it towed to a shop as this would be the most secure. If you are unable to get it towed, I would try the following with extreme caution.Underneath the vehicle, you should find the brake cable running to the back of the vehicle down the frame rail. Specifically, you are looking for a cable that goes from the rear wheels up to the frame rail. At some point you will find a spot where the cables from both rear wheels joins into one cable. At this point, try pulling the cable towards the back of the vehicle. If you can pull the cable back at this point and the breaks release, then you should be good to go but I would keep a very close eye on the heat of the rear breaks as the breaks may not completely release generating a great amount of heat and causing more damage or even a fire.

Good Morning, I have a 1996 Chevy S-10 Blazer that I used the parking brake on yesterday. However, when I went to use the hand parking release, it would not release the parking break and it felt like...

Yup! That is probably what is causing your dilema. To remove the lower panel, the parking brake release cable must be disconnected. It is not hard to reconnect if you know what you are looking for. The service manual does not provide a picture or I would post it for you. Anyway, it just "Snaps" into place on the parking brake pedal mechanizm. The cable just slips into a slot on the release lever. You can actually reach up and release the brake with your hand. (Be carefull not to get your fingers pinched when the pedal flies rearward) If you can get the pedal released by hand, then you have found the lever that the cable attaches to.

2005 parking brake stuck

The parking brake cable should be replaced but in the short term try getting under the truck and grabbing the cable casing and move them around to get the seized cable inside the cable casing to release keep working the cable until it releases if this doesn't work replace both cables.

The parking brake on my Volvo XC90 does not release when pulling on the release lever, can I release it manually so that I can drive it to the shop for repair?

Not from up top inside the car if it's frozen.

Sounds like it's been engaged quiet tight. So start the vehicle try depressing the release button and lifting up firmly instead of trying to immediately push downward on it to release.

Do that while lightly easing the vehicle in reverse if parked downhill to take pressure of the brake or in drive if parked uphill.

2005 is relatively new and I don't presume the cable has frozen nor snapped in the engaged position.

It's common when the brake has been engaged on a steep incline and drifted forward or the wheels curbed quiet snugly to avert rolling.

Parking brake pedal goes to floor

Hello;
The parking brake cables may be stretched and in need of adjustment. Follow the cables along to a nut. Then you can tighten the adjusters up on both sides until you have the proper tension. Also make certain none of the brackets are bent or broken that the cables ride through.
Thanks;
