Well how short a drive is it.........to get you to go nuts. Is it a high pitched whine? If so look to your right. Is the wife sitting there? If so. That's the problem. Going 75-80 in a 25mph school zone will cause that. And where is the speed limit 75-80 anyway.

It's the radio, btw, install an inline filter to filter out the alternator noise.

My 2001 xterra started making a weird sound between 20 and 35 mph. It sounds like there is a leak in some pressure system.

Common Car Noises and Their Likely Causes Noise More Details Likely Cause Fixing It Clicking noise while turning Starts faint, gradually becomes more noticeable until very loud Failed outer CV joint (constant velocity joint) due to torn boot (most likely) or old age Replace either the whole axle assembly (recommended) or the outer CV joint Water pump noises Difficult to diagnose because of water pump's location Noise usually caused by damage to the bearings in failed water pump Only cure is replacing it. If possible do it at the same time as a timing belt replacement to cut down on labor costs Squeak or squeal from an engine belt Loud, high-pitched squeak or squeal Belts either need adjustment or replacing If belts only squeak when damp, they probably just need adjustment. If they squeak constantly, they probably need to be replaced Exhaust heat shield noises Rattle that you hear when car is idling Damaged heat shield Replace heat shield

Noise in engine compartment - chirping, then loud squeal

try having the radiator cap checked for performance. It is not in the engine as any change in rpms would cause a corresponding change in frequency and volume of the noise. However if there is a problem in the cooling system ( leaking head gasket etc) then as the pressure builds up and escapes from under the radiator cap it will give the same affect as a bad tap washer in the household plumbing. Turn it on slightly and the water squeals as it comes out ( tap washer vibrating from pressure fluctuations. I would suggest that a coolant pressure test and a compression test may be in order to eliminate what I have suggested.

chek door seals- use a dollar bill- place over seal in various spots- close door- bill should be hard to tug out- sounds like a door is out of adjustment and not sealing in a top edge or corner

High pitched noise at highway speed

I also have a 2005 Tucson. It makes a loud whistling noise when approaching 75 mph. It comes from teh top of the windshield. I had the windshield replaced and thought it would solve my problem, but no. I should have had it fixed when warranty was in effect but I don't drive that fast much. I also need hlep.

There is a high-pitched whine coming from rear of our 2007 saturn sky that occurs at steady speed of 62-65 mph. when we accelerate or decelerate past it, it disappears momentarily

It seems like what you've discovered is something that will produce the noise based on the amount of wind speed. I'm imagining that you should look for something loose such as a piece of weather stripping, a crack, or an adjoining section of body panels where the gapping may be larger than the other side.

When I reach a speed of 30MPH I get a whistling noise

It is now sorted somehow the window had become slightly open and caused the wind noise.

Rear end noise?

This sounds like ring and pinion noise, new bearings and a gear set will cure the problem.
