2003 Saturn Ion spark plug replacement

What's missing ? Fuel pressure or spark Did you hook up a fuel pressure gauge ? Pull the coil pack or plug wire an check spark ?

Its not the safest way but, you take a long screw driver and stick it in to each spark plug boot(one at a time) and hold the metal shaft of the driver about 1/4 inch away from the engine block and have someone turn the motor over. Then, all you do is look for the spark. If you dont see it, the plug isnt getting spark.

How far have you gone into the iginition system, you could have secondary firing problems in spark plug wires. and or plugs

Drain all the oil and put on new clean, also repl the oil filter.
Your coil pack may also still be wet-- , mark your spark plug wires and the coils and remove them. Make sure the coils are dry the spark pulg wires ends are dry. Also the plug or the main harness to the coil pac may be wet still, pull the plug and dry that, use an old hair drier or just let it sit a day longer.

I recommend you have this repaired by a mechanic as they have special tools that can assist in making the repair. You can get what is called a Boss repair kit from Auto Zone that you can use to make the repair yourself however it's not the simplest repair and in an engine that new it is most likely aluminum which means it will be very easy to damage beyond repair if you aren't careful.

They will work, but you will get better service out of using Saturn's brands, as far as mileage; however, I would consider plug wires with this job. and use the high temp never seize to put on the threads of the new plugs, and make sure that the engine is cold when attempting to remove these plugs since it is easy to wipe out the threads in aluminum heads.

The spark plugs are recessed in the valve cover. If you remove the spark plug wires and look down in the hole that the wires came from, the plugs will be in there.
