2002 PT auto trans problem

I have 85 thousand miles on my 2002 PT and the auto trans just started sliping It has plenty of fluid in it, The filter and fluid and gasket was changed at 35 thousand. When the trans is cooled down it will grab, as soon as it warms up it slipes and wines. Can you just drop the pan and adjust the bands, or is it shot and replace the whole trans? Jeff

There is no band to adjust for your problem, the only bands are for stopping movement in the trans to to go to reverse,if your transmission is whining it is a problem with the front pump assembly ,

What are the necessary repairs for a 2002 S500 Mercedes with 91000 miles? What should your car be serviced for by this point

Hi, this really depends on its service history.

The following are the recommended service intervals on the Merc S500:

Note: operate A/C at least once per week, to maintain lubrication.

Underhood & Undervehicle

Every 3,000 miles - Replace engine oil & oil filter. Clean battery terminals. Adjust drive belt. Check power steering fluid. Check steering & CV BOOTS for wear and replace if necessary. Lubricate front end suspension.

Every 6,000 miles - Check transmission fluid condition and level. Check brake pads and caliper components - replace if necessary. Lubricate driveshaft U-joints. Rotate tires. Lubricate wiper arm linkage and pivots.

Every 12,000 miles - Adjust engine valve clearance. Replace distributor cap & rotor. Drain and replace engine Coolant. Replace Air Filter element. Replace Fuel Filter. Replace wiper blades.

Every 24,000 miles - Replace Drive Belt. Replace A/C Compressor Drive Belt. ** Change auto transmission fluid & trans filter (this is critical and must be adhered to) - preferrably do a trans flush at same time. Replace drive AXLE fluid.

Every 36,000 miles - Replace HT leads.

Every 2 years - Replace brake fluid (also clutch fluid if applicable). Replace power steering fluid.

** If you intend to keep this vehicle long term, then consider changing the trans fluid & filter every 20,000 miles. This is the secret to automatic transmission longevity.

What maintenance/services should i perform right now? My car has 160,000 miles on it. car was fully serviced at 100,000 and since then i've only changed the oil every 3,000 miles.

fuel filter, air filter, tran fluid filter and change.( if its an auto) transfer case drain and refill, plugs and wires, coolant system drain and refill, thermostat, they claim timing chain/belt, but thats an awful lot of work to get into that.. how long has it been sinse you changed brake pads, rotors, and drums? may want to consider that..hope this kinda gives you a good idea

Does a mercedes benz 2007 350 CLK convertiable have a 722.9 transmission? would you use BG ATF synthetic auto transmission fluid in this model at the 40 thousand mile trans service?

If you don't have synthetic in it now I woundn't, because you can not get all the fluid out with a regular transmission fluid change. Your transmission holds 14 to 15 quarts and when they do a fluid and filter change they replace about 5 quarts from the system.

Trans just started slipping 2002 Dodge Stratus with 54000 miles no signs of problems before do you check trans level in park or drive?

You allways check the transmission fluid level in car after the car has a few minutes to worm up. If you have not had the transmission fluid and filter change in a long time then you need to do it. The fluid and filter should be changed every 30,000 miles to keep you from having problems. Hope this will help you.

Trans bangs into gear on acceleration, feels like 2nd to 3rd gear. I have 98K on this honda. Trans fluid was never changed. Checked trans fluid it is in spec, bangs into gear hot or cold. Also check engine...

In all probability, the transmission fluid has stopped doing its work. You should have changed ATF fluid and filter about 60k miles ago. Auto transmission on 1998-2002 Accords are notoriously weak. ( i own one). I would venture to say that you have abused the tranny beyond its possibilities. If D light is flashing, transmission computer has detected a problem. Change tranny oil and filter to see if you can save it but outlook is not good.

Transmission maintenance

Service trans every 2 years or 24,000 miles.Buy a trans filter kit, remove trans oil pan, replace or clean filter(some tranys has a wire mesh screen in them that is cleaned, not replaced),replace oil pan & refill with recommended amount & proper type of fluid.REMEMBER THIS:CLEANLINESS IS GODLINESS WHEN WORKING ON AUTO TRANS,DON'T LEAVE ANY PIECES OF RAGS OR ANY OTHER MATERIAL INSIDE OF TRANS!!!

99 GMC K 1500 Transmission burning fluid and comeing out blow-by

The fluid boiling over is caused by the slippage heating up the fluid, your clutch pack is worn out, you will need an overhaul.
