Need to replace heater core

there is alot of procedures that have to be done disconnect the negative side of the battery drain the fluid make sure you do not do anything to set off the airbags and if there is a place where you can get a Haynes repair manual it would be very helpful to you I would stop by Autozone or any parts place in your area and get a price on a part at the same time get a diagram now if there is a self service salvage yard you can go out there and take the part off of that car and you will then know how to fix yours

The heat in my 2002 hyundai sonata doesn't work, Help!!!

Is the fan working and blowing air but there is now heat?

If there is no heat and air is blowing out check your radiator level. If the engine coolant is too low water will not get to your heater core. Remeber check the radiator level and not just the coolant reservoir. Becareful when working around a hot car. wait til the car cools down to check the level of the coolant in the radiator.

Heater control only works on high

You need a blower motor resistor, and the heater blower motor should be checked for high amp draw. check Napa for the part or go to Dodge..prpbably about 60.00 dollars.

Heater

After the car is running for 10 minutes open the hood and feel the two hoses going to your heater core in the fire wall dash area. Are they the same temp?
1) Your temp should be set to high with blower on. If they are the same temp the water is flowing through the heater core. If you still do not have heat the problem is the vet door is not switching from AC to heat . This is located under the dash. THe selanoid door may je jammed, a wire may be off or a vacuum line off to that particular vent.
2) If the temp of the two hoses is different temp one decidedly cooler or hotter than the valve that send the hot water t the heater core is mal functioning. If it mechanically opens and closes this can be corrected by manually moving valve to open. Again if electrical or vacum - check for wire off or sticky vale. If the valve is bad replace it yourself with minimal difficulty.
