Hi; If I get the 'Trans Failsafe Prog" message twice within about 2 hours, The SES light will go on automatically. Since I do not seem to have any real transmission problems, this SES message clears itself in about 24 hours. The "Trans Failsafe Prog" messageseems to be used to indicate other transmission problems as well, like loss of transmission fluid, so be careful. I have a 2002 X5. Cheers. Omer

The engine management light will stay on letting u know that u have a problem u will need to have the car scanned for the code at an auto store or service station some do the scan for free the trouble will direct ur to ur problem ---the problem can be a different number of things from engine misfire to low on transmission fluid if ur lucky is may be just a dirty filter but u will need the car scanned good luck

2002 bmw x5 trans failsafe program message after oil change

First check transmission dip stick for correct fluid level. Next schedule a transmission filter change. This should have been done at 60,000miles

Transmission failsafe

from your brief description i would say your alternator has failed, which means the car can no longer recharge the battery or supply battery to the car itself.

The transmission has gone into limp mode. My Boomer done the same thing' if it wont reset itself i think the only option is a BMW dealer to faultfind. Very complicated computor controlled transmission beyond any novice im afraid.

Bmw 2000 7 series trans. failsafe prog.

pretty quick. but be sure it the alternator. You can test it by starting the car then unplugging the battery. If it cuts off when you unplug it it's the alternator if it keeps running it's not the problem

I also have a trans.failsafe prog.indicator light on my 2000 bmw

You have an alternator or battery concerne, low voltage caused all the other problems,Start with a battery, then have alternator tested. The failsafes are designed to keep from burning up solenoids and other electronic components.
