1995 Chev Suburban rear door latch stuck in locked position
When my rear door was open I accidentally flipped the latch to the locked position, and now I can't get it to go back to the open position. Now I can't close the door.

use a round bar ( a screw driver ) and place it under the latch and pull the latch out as you press the button to unlock as if you were opening the door.
Check the latch itself (on the door) is in the open position, ans didn't accidentally flip to the closed position. This has to be open so it can fit over the stud in the door jamb, where it flips over the stud to latch the door. If so, while holding door handle (as if you were trying to open/unlatch door), flip latch open, with a finger or a screwdriver.
I have a 2008 Suburban with the power liftgate disabled. I have had the power latch stop working, and the BCM report that the rear access open when it is closed (both gate and glass). Somehow the liftgate module thinks the gate is open, so I cannot open the gate at all, and the latch and rear wiper will not work. To reset the control module I pulled the liftgate fuse (#20) in the instrument panel fuse box, turned the car on, off, reinstalled fuse, turned car on, unlocked doors using drivers side switch, and the power latch will function again - at least for a while.
I have seen some times the latch assemblys get rusty or dirty and the inside or outside door handles are pulled and the latch assembly siezes in the open position not allowing the door to latch closed..but this may not be the case .. check to see also if the child lock switch position is not stuck in the halfway position, also check if the latch has not flipped to the close position before the door was closed thus jamming the striker latch..this can be fixed by pulling the catch out while opening the door handle..hope this helps good luck...
It sounds to me ( correct me if I'm wrong ) like the door latch on the side vertical edge of the door is in the LOCKED POSITION. In order to unlock it perform the following. First electrically with the LOCK button UNLOCK the locks. Now with one hand hold the OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE IN THEOPEN POSITION, while at the same time FLIPPING OPEN THE LATCH. All Done . Now you can close the door. Hope this helps
open the handle like you are trying to open the door, then get a screwdriver, and flip the latch back to open. It is stuck in the shut position. Hurry before it rains.
