1999 Ford Taurus, no heat. Air comes thru all vents but blows cold air like the ac is on. Replaced thermostat twice, flushed heater core three times (just did it), still ice cold air. Both pipes going into the heater matrix are cold. Also my fan keeps cutting on and off, even when the motor is not even hot, just on and off the entire time driving it.Help?

Ford you say

check that there is flow coming out your heater hoses
step 1 remove 1c heater hose
step 2 have a friend start car remember it is easy to install a heater flush valve and it makes the job easier
if there is flow then eithor you have a blockage or an air lock
if there is no flow there might be a valve in the heater lines to stop the flow of coolant to the car when ac is on i have seen theise in a few cars but they are rare if there is a valve than make sure it isnt frozen with rust and ir does work in a ford i would assume that it is a vacume valve

good luck and happy hunting

Hi Ron,

Blend air door actuators fail often in Ford Taurus. It sounds like that may be the problem with yours. For more information regarding this subject, please read the following article:

No heat. Both hoses are hot at firewall connection. Replaced water pump and thermostat. Flushed coolant system twice, no restriction. Damper is free moving and servo motor works when temp change is...

As a mechanic i am leaning towards a bad heater core. The core translates the heat from the cooling system into hot air for the cabin. Often times if the core is bad it leaks. check under the carpet, be keen on the smell of the antifreez and keep an eye out for foggy windows. Good luck and i hope i was able to shed some light on the situation.

Try checking the two pipes that go into and come out of the heater matrix, is one of them hot? if it is there is an air lock within the matrix, Also is the thermostat opening fully? Sorry i know you said you have changed it twice already but take it out check settings when it should open and close, then boil some water and test the thermostat

Bought son 98 Taurus, blasts cold a/c air and defroster air blows, but it won't blow warm air-no heater. can't see out of windshield with the morning sun.Husband flushed antifreeze and changed thermostat....

feel the two hoses going into and out of the heater core. they both should be hot. if one is cold the heater core is likely plugged. you can try flushing it out to see if you can restore flow to the heater core. if they are both hot the thermostat may be sticking open tho you should have a limited amount of heat. also confirm that the vents are operating as they should be.

Ford ka heater blows hot air all the time

Taurus does not use a heater control valve. It runs coolant thru the heater core constantly. You may have a temp blend door actuator problem or a plugged up heater core is also very common. Feel the heater hoses, they should both be very hot, it one is much cooler; you can try to back flush the core.

Heater

Have the cooling system flushed or remove the hoses from the firewall(when cool) and blow out heater core with compressed air-clogged heater core..
