I have a 99 chevy tahoe. the ownly issues I have had are with the air flow. heat in winter, ac in summer. I have had the compressor changed, blower motor changed, switches, cylinoid, and the blender motor replaced. It will work for 10-20 min then it just does not flow thru the vents. it's winter and it is a real problem. I keep bringing it in to be fixed and thry keep telling me everything is fine, voltage and all is correct. TYou can feel the heat if you put your hand up to any vent, but it just has no force coming out of the vents.... Very frustrating...
please help.

no, would that allow it to flow for about 20 min then just stop flowing? if so is this something I am able to change? thanksno, would that allow it to flow for about 20 min then just stop flowing? if so is this something I am able to change?

it could have that effect. most of them are behind a door behind the glove box if you take it out there could be leaves and other debri in there you might have to remove most of those filters are about $20 and should be changed at least once a yearit could have that effect. most of them are behind a door behind the glove box if you take it out there could be leaves and other debri in there you might have to remove most of those filters are about $20 and should be changed at least once a year

Is the air blowing out of the defrost or heater vents? My thought is it has to be going somewhere if the blower is on, so it would likely be a faulty climate control unit or blend door motor shifting it to the incorrect position. If I can assist further, reach me at https://www.6ya.com/thericepatch
Check your heater radiator. It is usually mounted behind/near the glove box areas on most cars. It is like a small version of the large radiator that is mounted on the front of your vehicle under the hood. Antifreeze and coolant (does it smell a little like antifreeze?) flows thru your front radiator, thru the block and hoses, and cycles thru the radiator for your heating system. If the radiator is leaking, often it cycles thru the vents on the interior.
Another possibility MIGHT be the AC system and condensation/AC coolant that is building up in/on the lines and transferring thru the vents.
The actuator door that is behind the dash that closes off the heater core from shooting hot air thru the vents might be your problem. When you turn on your ac the actuator shuts the door to prevent the air from flowing thru the heater core into the cabin, this may be your problem if everything else is working properly. Let us know.
It sounds like vacuum is not getting to the vent, heat and A/C controls. Find the vacuum can. It may be under the hood on one of the inner fenders. The "one-way" check valve is usually located in the line and close to the can, make sure it works properly. The valve could be the very thing that's causing the problem. Trace the lines back to the vacuum block at the intake manifold or fire-wall, and also back to where the line goes thru the fire-wall. Check the can for leaks or obvious holes. They used to be just a plain metal can, but it could be a plastic ball. Check the lines as you go, for breaks and rub-thru's. Move the controls thru all settings and listen for vent door movement. Worst case is a bad vacuum motor or air flow position selector switch. If you have been driving around with the Temperature knob or control set at the same spot for months, move it from fully cold to fully hot several times and wait for the air temperature to change each time. This will help reset the blend door and vacuum control system. Hope this helps... Let me know what you find.
might be the damper door stuck..are you getting full air flow thru all vents and defroster but it is just cold? if full flow but cold..most likely damper .. see my tips section about heating troubleshooting for diagrams
your blower resistor bad or the blower motor control switch is bad. no air flow from top vent make sure vent open.because you can manual adjust them not to blow air on you.if all is good.you have leaking vacuum hose or vacuum actuator.or air door stuck.the AC and HEATER control switch.is bad.its not allowing vacuum to open air door.
I know from experience that if the coolant is to low ( not just the freon levels in the compresor but the antifreeze/coolant level as well) the AC system will not cool and will blow hot. Check the coolant Antifreeze and freon levels, even with the Coolant being a little low my 1998 Ford E150 Van will blow hot. After you have ruled out of these possibilities and the chance it is the thermostat most likely the problem is what Ford calls the "Flap" it controls the air flow through the vent system when you switch from Heat to AC. When the Flap is working it closes off one systems air flow so as to not interfere with the current climate selection.
