Remove entire rear seat assembly
Pry out the rear portion of the seat belt trim bezel.
Partialy remove the rear parcel shelf trim panel, slide it down and out of the way.
Remove the screws and detach the speakers.
Installation is reverse of removal, making sure that wire connectors face toward the center of the vehicle

2000 Dodge/Chrysler neon Removing rear speakers

I don't know of any websites with pics or vids, but i can walk you through it. First, remove the trim panels between the rear door glass and rear windshield. They're just held in by little clips and should pull right off. Then grab the rear seat cushion at the front about midway to the middle on each side and yank it up sharply. Take the bolts out that hold the rear seat back in place, I think you have to lift it from the bottom to disengage clips at the top. Remove the rear seatbelt trim bezels. Slide the seatbelts through the slots and pull the shelf trim forward to remove it. The speakers are held in by 4 phillips head scews.

97 neon oil leak

Solution: Maybe.

Rear main seal is probably the problem.

My 1997 Dodge Neon has this same problem. My father-in-law (who used to be a mechanic) checked the car for me and found the rear main seal needs replacing.

Speaker Replacement

There should be at least 2 screws that are hiden in the door panel. One around the arm rest and the other down by the light/reflector.
Take those out and the panel should lift up. Becareful there will be a ton of wires that are attached to the door. Disconnect each of these and the panel will be free to remove.
You should have access to the speaker at this time.
