Trans has one into limp mode, This was programmed into the PCM to get folks home or to the dealer for service. Something is wrong with trans. Any codes???

Sounds like trans has a major problem and has gone into "limp mode". Actually goes into 2nd gear and will not go into any other forward gear. This is to keep you from being totally stranded. Get it checked.
Verify that your trans fluid is at the correct level. When if at all was the trans last serviced?
If fluid is low, try bringing it up to proper level with Valvoline ATF+4 fluid. You need to used either fluid from a dealer, or the valvoline brand which is approved by Dodge.

I need a little mor info. But the reason for the being stuck in 2nd gear is because when something goes wrong with the tranny. it goes into "LIMP" mode wich keeps the trans. from shifting out of 2nd when you are going forward. It does sound like your trans. is gone out though.
Darrell, The trans went into limp mode. 41te trans do funny things. The limp setting is so you can get home or to the dealer. As for the slipping , check fluid first. If ok scan for codes from trans...
Have you checked for trouble codes? Trans. stuck in 2nd gear is 'limp mode' when there is a problem, which could be a bad sensor. Scan for any stored codes 1st to get some clues as to what is wrong.
