O3 ford escape V6 began hesitating and missing at idle in drive, also misfiring at 2000 rpm while driving. It used 3/4 of a tank of fuel going 70 miles. Changed all six spark plugs an cleaned the intake and butterfly assembly. It runs great at idle and driving, however it is still drinking fuel like a alcholic. Whats the deal?
Are you getting a flashing "check engine" light? If so, read the OBD codes and check/replace the coil on that cylinder. Also, check or replace the intake manifold gaskets (there are 2 sets, upper and lower) and leaks in the vacuum hoses. The large hose on the back of the intake manifold (1 of 3 on the intake) that comes around the drivers side of the engine and connects to the PCV valve is very prone to leaking and collapse. Pay particular attention to this one.
Good luck!
Change the plug wires they may be bad. or you may have a bad coil
