The cigarette lighter plug should also work for the phone charger as long as the phone charger uses the cigarette lighter style plug(long with two metal contacts on the sides and a button contact on the tip). Most standard car chargers will fit both cigarette and auxillary style plugs.

SOURCE: cigarette lighter stopped working

Being a Lexxus the cig lighter might be a very slight different size than the plugs you are trying to use. Does the lighter work to light cigarettes (or does it glow hot after being pushed in)? If it works then it's not the fuse. If it doesn't work, try the inner fuse box-the fuse box is located to the bottom left of the steering wheel behind the little change drawer.

You can pull the fuses one at a time and look at them. You will know the bad fuse when you see it.

SOURCE: i have a 2005 scion xa and the cigarette lighter has never worked

The fuse box cover should tell you which fuse controls the lighter. Also, I've seen it where the people forget to hook the harness up to connect the lighter unit

Testimonial: "the fuse pannel doesn't say which one is for the lighter. i have a few empty spaces "

What is a cigarette lighter fuse

Fuses are located in a plastic box, usually under the hood of your car. When they burn out, whatever they are designated to operate will not work. They are usually labelled. For cigarette lighter, it usually says, "Cig". Cigarette lighters are more important today than they used to be because GPS units and power invertors for computers and chargers for cell phones plug into them. The good news is that fuses are cheap and simple to replace.

Where is the fuse located to make my cigarette lighter work?

a cigarette lighter is rarely on its own fuse, test the plug with a cell phone charger or some other device that plugs into the lighterplug, if it works the cigarette plug is ok, and the actual lighter itself is bad, most auto stores sell replacements

2009 Saturn aura: cigarette lighters/power ports

You likely have a blown fuse. I have heard using the cigarette lighter for charging your cell phone can blow the fuse - was told to use the charger inside the center console for charging my cell phone.

My 2002 VW Jetta cigarette lighter will not work. I have tried replacing the fuse, and nothing. How do I (myself) change the cigarette lighter? Thanks for your help!!!

You need a dc current test light to see if it is getting current, or plug in a cell phone charger to see if you are getting current. Our it could be the the lighter insert, a burnt out element and not the socket.

Scanner can not retrieve any thing from PCM some one told me they think its running in open loop. Please help.

Open Loop or Closed Loop has absolutely nothing to do with the computer's ability to output data to the scanner.

This may sound like a crazy question, but does your cigarette lighter socket work?

The Data Link Connector (DLC) on most GM vehicles gets their 12 volt supply from the same fuse as the cigarette lighter. It is real common for the cigarette lighter fuse to be blown. (due to a bad cell-phone charger, or any of the other thousands of accessories that can be plugged into the cigarette lighter.)

Your scanner cannot communicate with the onboard computer if this fuse is blown.
