Changed the water pump now I cannot get the belt

best thing to do is get a car manual that shows how to perform these jobs then you will have pictures and reference info with you and decide if you are up to doing it yourself.

defo sound like the pump has gone. is best to do the time belt at the same time save you doing it later. as when you do timing belt you need to change the water pump at the same time. if ecotec engine it is hard to get to the pump you need to unbolt the engine mounts and on a jack lift the engine up to get a bit more space to remove the pump. change the pump then put back in place and do the timing belt.

100,000 miles, check owners manual. Some change at 75k as the water pump may fail before the service is recommended. Always replace water pump when changing belt.

sometimes it makes noise But uselley you can tell by leaking and the owner's manual always tells yout to replace it around 60.000 to 90.000 that means when you are changing the timing belt as well.

It is suggested by any mechcanic to perform this maintenace every 80,000 miles if you properbly maintain your vehicle. That mean going by the owners manual suggestions. Also I would highly recomend changing the water pum as well for it runs off this belt and water pumps only last as long as the belt will also. If a new belt is installed without a new water pump it may fail in no time. I seen it happen more than a dozen times in the past ten years

I don't know what engine you have but the 3.0 liter is the most common.

the belt routing diagram should be under the hood someplace....also is in the owners manual ....or goodyear belts have belt routing info on the back of packaging...good luck...Lee

the best way to replace a water pump is to drain all the radiator fluid first ,youll also have to remove some belts and hoses to get to it ,you will also have to remove the fan blades ,but you can get the owners repair manual for your car or truck and it will give you the correct steps and order to remove the water pump , the new pump will need a new gasket and gasket sealer along with loctite tread sealer for the bolts when replacing the waterpump ,remember the order in taking off the parts and keep them in order when removing them , while you have the belts and hoses off it,s also a great time to inspect the belts and hoses any cracks or brittleness in theese components should be replaced at that time since it,s an easy job then , but refer to the service manual for pictures and descriptions of the area you will be working on , and always remember it pay,s to get your hands dirty , thanks sincerely glenn

My message doesn't spify what type of vehicle, so I'll say that if the water pump belt is different from the timing belt, them about 15000 miles for water pump, and 30,000 miles for timing belt.

If your system is drive by a serpentine belt, then changing just one belt will solve your problem.

Automatic transmission fluid should be about every 15,000 miles, and be sure to change the filter in the tranny at the same time.
