97 toyota camry trunk latch is stuck not allowing to open trunk how would i get the trunk open? Cant go through the back due to having a speaker system and speaker box is in the way.

remove the back seat. and try it from inside

*try this:
Ask one person to pull the trunk release handle and hold and other
open the truck.
If this is not work looks like the cable is slip off from either the latch or the release handle.

if it wont open at all ! remove back seat and get inside trunk to release the lid.

TRUNK LID ELECTRIC LATCH NOT WORKING MORE LIKELY ITS BROKEN.YOU HAVE TO USE KEY THE OPEN THE TRUNK LID, IF TRUNK LID GETTING POWER, THE ELECTRIC LATCH HAS TO BE REPLACED.

check the trunk latch on the lid,use a screwdiver to see if it locks when you insert the shaft of the screwdriver in the latch. if it doesn't lock check the inside trunk release could be stuck in the up position.or the latch is dry try to oil it with dry lube or wd 40

The lock latch is held by a spring to be in Normal Close position. It it is in open position then there is 2 possible root causes: 1- The cable pulling the latch to open gets stuck. 2- The spring broken or out of its position. Hope this can help to fix it.

no moter on that if you are going in trunk an reaching in to pull cable and it opens.try bending the latch an gas door lock. pin is going in to far

Sparay lock assy with lubricant, and look where release cable attaches to lock assy, and push/pry it one way or the other to get it to move, opposite of where it is. Lube cable too.
