Either your car is not up to proper operating temp, or the circulating valve that allows heated coolant into the heater core is not opening all the way, or you have a ductwork problem that is blending ambient air with the heated air before it comes out of the ducts. If your car is not reaching the proper operating temp...it is likely a thermostat issue and can be corrected by putting the proper one in, which will allow the engine to get a bit hotter, thus heating the coolant a bit more. If it is a coolant valve problem..(the valve is located on the inlet hose just before it goes thru the firewall), you can replace the valve or adjust the linkage so that it fully opens. If it is a ducting issue, there is a blending door inside the duct that is not opening and closing properly...could be a bad actuator or a vacuum leak. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

Does temperature of heat increase at all, when RPM's of engine increase?
Cool when idling, warmer when engine is revved a bit?

SOURCE: Heater does not work

Check blend door motor for proper operation (vacuum operated) if necessary, detach arm from heater box and move by hand. If you have heat then, change motor! You are reaching operating temp for engine, right? If not, thermostat is stuck open... Change.

SOURCE: Heater not warming up during idle

check fluid level, sounds low. if that's not it, sounds like a clog in the heating system or pump going bad.

SOURCE: my heat is not blowing warm

It could need a thermostat, have a coolant leak low level, heater core problem or heater control valve problem

SOURCE: 1998 Tercel Cold heat to the windshield. Lukewarm out front vent.

Hey,

I just replaced my thermostat in my car due to the same problem. Except mine was a 92. I figured I'd start with the thermostat and antifreeze. Then the heating core. Now I have heat.

But yet I still have no heat on the windshield.

Heater is not blowing hot air

How old is the coolant in your car? If you haven't changed the coolant in a couple of years, you may have sediment build-up in the heater core that is restricting full circulation in the core and preventing good heat output. Feel both hoses at the firewall that go to the heater core. Are both equally hot when the engine is warmed up and heater controls on high? If only one is hot, and the other lukewarm, the core is partially plugged. Pull off both hoses there and run a garden hose at low volume backward through the core. If not sure what is backward flow just run the garden hose through both openings and see if you can remove any sediment or blockage.
If both hoses are hot, the core may be circulating fine, and the problem may be in the heater case's doors not opening fully- I think that would be the temperature blend door. When heater controls on full heat, the door should be fully open to let blower air pass across and through the heater core to pick up heat and pass on through to vents.

2003 ford taurus blows lukewarm when the heat is on. Blower blows fine and a/c works great.

Check out the heater hoses for warmth. Both should be the same with the water flowing. If they are not, the water is not circulating.

There are 2 ways the heater can work. One style varies the amount of water flow to control the heat levels. The other uses the blend flaps in the ducts to push air flow around the heater core.

If the heater hoses are not circulating water, a part called a flow valve is to blame. Check out the autoparts sites for photos of the flow valve for your car. If you have the blend flap system, a solenoid called a "motor" is not changing the position of the blend flap in the dashes' ductwork.

Heater blowing only warm air, fan is fine. no leaks on heater core where is the control for the heater located

Make sure you have the coolant level at the correct level in the bottle resorvoir. If there is not fluid to circulate in the system, the fan will only blow a cool or lukewarm temperature air. If there is enough coolant, check that the water pump is working.

1996 Honda Passport EX 3.0 Heater runs weak, the fan barely puts any air out, but I can hear it blowing. It also barely puts out warm air. With the temp. lever in cool it really blows. but as I slide it...

Is this a quantity of air problem or quality of the heat from the heater?
If its heat from the heater you need to first flysh and reverse flush your cooling system, includes radiator etc and use a good flushing agent first. Then replace heater water valve.
Refill and bleed out cooling system and get car up to temp.
When hot, feel pipes going into and out of heater matrix. On full heat they should both be roughly same temp, if not , replace matrix cos it must have collapsed.
Have yoy EML light checked at local garage using spec diagnostic tools.
