2nd 4th and reverse gear means that you need to pull the gear knob (in passenger compartment) backwards which inversly push the gearbox's gear-link (on gearbox) upwards. 1st 3rd and 5th gear pulls the gear-link downwards (which in your case works fine). Pls check your linkage cable fittment at gearbox in engine bay. There are two cable holders which are connected to gearbox. First is at the very end of cable which is small plastic ball connected to the gear-link.
The second one is Cable retainer socket which serves to stop moving cable's plastic covering body. This is fitted to gearbox's plastic cup holder ( hint; cup holder contains two half circled cuts) attached to gearbox metal body with three bolts. Just check the cable at this point and possibly cable's plastic bush restrainer is slipped out of half-cut circle-holder. You must push/fit in correctly the cable round bush holder in the half-circled cut to restrain cable's plastic body movement.

Would anybody have any ideas as to why I am having intermittent gear box jamming can't get into 1st, 3rd or 5th on my Peugeot 307 2006?

You most likely have two problems. 1. The throw out bearing is probably bad, and 2. This has caused some gear shearing within the gear box. Best fix is to have the gear box removed, cleaned, check for chipped, cracked gear teeth, and replace with good gears. Also, check the synchronizer , make sure it is in good working order.

Have recently replaced the Clutch Kit on a Peugeot 206 model is 2005. The car is running but goes into third gear instead of first gear at times. It seems as if the linkages are not pushing far enough. Can...

Check to see that none of the gear linkages have been bent or misaligned. Check for wear in the gear linkage joints and also in the gear lever attachment point.

How to replace the harmonic balancer

This usually requires a special tool to pull the balancer off, but the last one I took off slipped off by hand. What you have to do is first is loosen the nut. It takes a large socket. 19mm or bigger. You may need to take the plastic skirt off the fender well to get access. Next, you will need some way to lock the engine from turning. If you have a manual trans, put it in a high gear and set the parking brake. If you have an automatic, look for something near the pulley that you can poke a good size screwdriver into that will pry against the engine. If nother like that is available, the last resort is to remove and jam the flexplate gear with a vice grip.
Once you have the bolt loose, take all the belts off. Then see if you can pull the damper off by hand. If not, use a 3-jaw puller or borrow/rent a damper puller. Autozone loans pullers for a refundable deposit.

To replace, reverse procedure, voila.
