Horn wiring diagram 65 el camino - 1982 Chevrolet El Camino

You must not disconnect the horn as it makes your car ill-eagle to drive on the highway. You must have an audible warning for times of emergency.

The problem will be the clock spring wiring in the steering wheel. Easy job for an auto - electrician to fix.

You can unplug the horn/s. You could pull the horn fuse, pull the horn relay. Of course that isn't the proper fix, you may need the horn. The problem is usually the wiring in the steering column. I can't be positive, at the moment.

Wow, quite an undertaking. I had an '81 El Camino and wish I had never sold it. Originally it had a 267 c.i. V-8 with a Rochester 2bbl carb. I put in a Chevy 350 4-bolt main crate engine, Edelbrock intake and carb, and Hedmann headers (it ran like a scalded dog LOL). My advice is to look for a Haynes manual covering the '71 model year. They have complete wiring diagrams in their manuals, but the wire routing will be up to you. Good luck.

I am sorry but we have no wiring diagrams for anything this age.

Those are the right wires, so the switch must be broken. Do you need instructions for replacing it?

the library has books you can look at (haynes, and chilton manuals) or if you want to buy a book you can go to the auto parts store and buy one. they will have the information you are seeking

In fact there IS a horn relay. I have circled the circuit you are looking for in red.
I would search under the dash on driver's side.

Find the Ignition Harness and follow the wires back to the firewall.

You can pick up a Haynes manual on it at like Auto Zone and it has wiring diagrams in the back. Shows color codes on wires and where they run. Hope this helps
