Nope, just replace the oil filter. The filter may be loose or if the oil filter was placed without oil on the O-ring before installation will cause the O-rings to fail. If the car is due for an oil change, might as well service the engine and replace the oil and filter. Good luck and hope it's not the oil pressure sensor which will leak when it fails too and it's most of the time located by the oil filter area in most cars.

How can i solve engine oil leaking?

You probably have rings that are wore down, the main problem would be to replace motor. But, a quick fix is to buy a bottle of Lucas at your local auto parts place and it will temporarily seal the leak. Hope this helps.

1992 honda accord needs oil every 10 minutes of drive time

This is not good . With that much oil in that amount of time.
Unless there is a cloud of smoke so thick coming out of the tail pipe you cannot see through it, There must be an external oil leak. If you look under your Honda and there is oil all over the underside it will be necessary to locate the general area of the leak to pin point the problem area. Starting with the oil filter and drain plug. You may need help with that.

HAVE A OIL LEAK COMING FROM ABOVE THE OIL FILTER.

Has the oil filter just been replaced? Sometimes the old gasket sticks to the mounting area, causing leakage if the new filter is installed on top of it. It is also possible the gasket was for some reason missing on a new filter. Let me know if this is not the cause, I'll try to help further.

Oil filter base plate

it does have an O ring buts its irregularly shaped. it is usually held on by 3 bolts(mine was). and the top most bolt was very close to my oil pressure sensor....(had to take it out to avoid breaking it) i needed a very short ratchet wrench and get it out. Make sure you get the ring from a Honda Dealership if you can.(i have bad luck with aftermarket parts on my Hondas). The reason why mine was spraying is because the baseplate was actually cracked. so i also had to buy a new one ( yes they have them too) O-ring 12.00 bucks baseplate was 39.00 bucks for me, might be a bit more for yours since your Honda is a little newer (mine was an 89 accord) oil filter baseplate or mountplate are some terms (so you were right on) hope this helps.

Oil leak

If it's leaking from the oil filter spacer.( the 2 inch metal ring that attaches to your block, and has two rubber hoses coming out of it, and your oil filter attaches to) There is an o-ring between the spacer and the block. Take off your oil filter, remove the oil filter stud with 1 3/16" socket( or metric equivalent) and the spacer will come off. I found all the auto parts stores around me said that the o-ring was a dealer item. I bought a FRAM PH3387A oil filter and removed the o-ring on that. It fit perfectly, snug down your oil filter stud to specs, then install your oil filter. Double check that the oil filter is not double gasketed, and your are fixed!

Honda accord 1992 I have a oil leak around the oil filter is it

is it an ex?
is it a bad leak?
it could be 2 things
1) oil pressure sending unit above the filter
2) "o" ring between the oil cooler and block on ex models only. the oil cooler is between the filter and block with 2 coolant hoses attached to it. also might be the oil filter. i replace alot of sending units and oil cooler o rings.

Oil leak around oil filter

Are you positive the leak is coming from the filter?
It could be coming from above it, perhaps the valve cover which is common. Take a look.
Post what engine you have also, the more info offered the better chance someone can help with a problem.
