I dont know exactly this model chager but, ACDelco makes a respected line of professional automotive and marine
deep cycle batteries. Batteries, by nature, lose their charge whether
they are in storage on a shelf or in use. Even if your have purchased a
new ACDelco battery, you may need to charge it to bring it up to 100
percent. You can charge an ACDelco battery easily. It may take up to 24
hours for the battery to fully charge, depending on the size of the
battery and the output of your battery charger.
Take a good look at the battery charger it will have a very simple
panel on the front of it for you to 'Set' the voltage and amperage for
your car. The time or speed of Charging the car can be accomplished in
a couple of ways:
If there is no time constraints you can charge the
car overnight. (this would be the best way to get a complete charge)
If
you are in need of getting your car charged more quickly than overnight
that can be done too.
Remember do not plug the charger on until all
cables and cords are selected and attached properly! The Panel on the
Charger (there will be a switch here too) will say > 6 volt, 12
volt, 12 volt < across the top! You are charging a car battery, so
you do need 12 volts only! But you need to distinguish the amperage you
want to use and that is read under the 2- 12 volt choices on the panel
you are reading. The choices for 12 volt charging are usually 2 amps
and 10 amps. Overnight charging will always use the 2 Amp selection!
The battery will be charging for 8 or more hours and using the 10 amps
charge might overcharge the battery, causing damage to the battery and
a possible electrical fire. So don't be afraid, just use the 2 amp
selection switch for overnight. If you are in a hurry you can use the
10 amp position (under the 12 volt heading) and you will only need
about 2-4 hours to complete the battery charging! It might not be as
thorough as leaving it overnight, but it will definitely charge your
battery and start your car. Check it.
First, remove the battery cables from the terminal posts. Remember to
remove the (-) negative cable first. (This cable is usually black) and
then the (+) positive cable. Don’t forget that all your stereo settings
will probably be lost when the power is cut off:Set your ACDelco battery down on a battery tray on a level surface.
Place
your battery charger near the battery and check to see that the cables
from the charger can reach the battery and the power cord can reach
your electrical power source easily. Make adjustments if necessary.
Select
the charge rate on your battery charger. A switch, button or dial on
the front of your charger will allow you to specify the voltage (12 or
6) and rate (trickle, slow or fast). The slower the charge rate, the
more complete the charge will be to the battery.
Connect
the positive (red) cable from the battery charger to the positive (+)
post of the battery. Connect the negative (black) cable from the
charger to the negative (-) post of the battery.
Plug
the charger in to your power source. Wait 15 minutes and then read the
gauge on the front of the charger to see what percentage of a full
charge your battery already has.
Calculate
the length of time it should take your battery to charge. Divide the
battery capacity (for example: 10,000 amp hours) by the listed output
of your charger (e.g., 1000 amp hours). The answer (10) will be the
number of hours it will take to charge your battery from zero percent
charge to 100 percent.
Subtract
the charge that your battery already had from the hours needed to fully
charge it. For example, if in Step 5 your battery already had a
20-percent charge then you would subtract 2 hours (20 percent of 10)
from the 10 hours needed to bring the battery to a full charge. If you
are using a "Fast" charge setting, then divide your final hours in half.
- Use a hydrometer to test that your
battery is good before even bothering to charge it. Pry the caps off
the acid cells (these are typically raised from the surface of the top
of the battery with writing on them), insert the end of the hydrometer
and squeeze the bulb at the end to draw acid into the tube. If less
than three of the colored balls float, or if the gravity level reads
less then 1,200 (depending on the type of hydrometer you have) then the
battery needs to be replaced.
- Do
not let a battery continue charging after it has reached 100 percent of
the needed charge. This could lead to the battery "boiling" and
potentially exploding.
Also can review this Catalogue ACDelco Batteries (page 15 for some details and tips).
A
battery in good condition (not sealed) should last an average of 2
years and if the vehicle is running through a time span of + / - 30
minutes, should turn easily after the expiry of a similar time off.
Failing
that, and for greater certainty, once the car comes on, take it to any
Autozone for that measure the "burden" if the alternator is working
correctly should show freight, if Autozone readings are not correct, it
will be necessary thinking about getting a new battery.
Good luck.

Hi, this is my best description ...the Adelco 34300 battery charger has a red (check)button in front, a black (light) button in front, another black button in front just like the black(light) button but without the word (light) in front also. On the back top there is another black button I do not know if I'm suppose to push this button when I charge my car. Also, there is a big on/off button on the side of the charger that I believe I am suppose to turn on when I charge my car.
On the Charger is a DC 12V socket and there is the button above the DC 12V socket which has a
(I and o) on the button to turn it on and off...I'm not sure if I need to turn this on when charging the car battery as well as the Red ON/Off button on the side of the charger.
As far as amperage there is nothing on the charger that says 2 amps or 10 amps, so I am wondering about electrical problem or fire.
I've charged the charger about 16 hours ...is that ok.
Also, once I charge my car successfully do I need to keep it running for about 20 minutes to make sure it stays charged...I'm just wondering how long my battery will last...I don't know how old the battery is ...I may need a new one.
My Mp3 player will not up date it's library nomore but it's suppose to up date every day
