I came home last night, parked the car then went back out shortly after. The car won't start. The keys (including the spare key) won't activate anything. Lights are on in the vehicle (2008 Jeep Liberty) and the locks, the radio and all are working. However anything using the key doesn't. What's the problem?

Hi I am a tech mechanic I deal with things like that Evey day lol but sounds like the anti theft or the ignition switch n lock n key to but you also have broke wires touching even in thecolom
To clarify something you said, the accessories should go off when the key switch is in the start position. Are you getting power to the coil and the computer when the key switch is on and in start ?
Hi, You have a 'short circuit' in the system or a bad ground somewhere. Go online and search on the Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler forums for this issue. I've read about myself but don't recall the common cause.
Check the connections at the battery. Sounds like there will be corrosion. Take off the terminals and clean them with baking soda and water and put them back on tightly.
Same here. What I do is lock all doors using the button on the driver's door before opening the door, then open the driver's door and lock it manually. That seems to keep it disarmed. I believe it has to be the driver's door for this to work, but I don't know for sure.
