2000 s-10 ZR2 3sp w/Od automatic transmission shifts hard from 1st to 2nd on hot days or after driving 30+ miles. Been this way for 4 years or better. Now has 141,000 miles. I know these transmissions are known to break around 100K or more. What part of the transmission is actually the trouble ( weak )? I would like to fix it myself. Thanks

4L60E's aren't that easy to rebuild like the old style transmissions and would probably even be cheaper just to replace it if it's giving you any real problems.

SOURCE: 94 jeep grand cherokee

Sorry, at first glance, I was thinking that you might be able to pull it off. But, having given it some thought....

To answer your question simply, the tranny will not work as it is. To my recolection, the transmissions changed midway through the 1993 production period for the Grand Cherokee. Even the mounts in your 94 had changed from the 91.

Having said that, there may very well be a conversion kit or adapter kit available to make this possible. But, I'm not aware of one and, based on previous experiences, I would not think it would be cost-effective or easy.

Good luck with your project.

there isn't a cable on these! It is electronic. No 2nd or 4th means there is something wrong with the band.

Dodge Ram 3500 skips from 1st to 3rd gear, had rebuild after still the same issue. Any advice?

Governor pressure controls the 1st and 2nd shifts. After that is the 3 and 4 solenoids. you would need to look at the pressure when driving(takes a scanner). pressure is 20 to 30 PSI from 1st to 2nd, depends on acceleration. After that the pressure will jump to 100+ psi. Did you replace the governor solenoid and sensor? They are on the passenger side of the transmission and sit in a block that detaches from the valve body.

CD4E OD does not downshift out of gear when decelerating, OD light is now flashing, and I can no longer move in forward gears.

Hello
The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.

Shifts hard only some times when cold or hot from 3rd to over drive the truck has 130,000 miles and is a 2000 chevy silverado 2500 6.0L

1-2 shift is delayed and harsh, may not shift into OD: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace or EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid failed. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible or hard parts will eventually break. Start with the simple and check the transmission fluid level and condition.Secondly, put a line pressure gauge (or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure. Base pressure at idle in P,N,OD should be around 70psi and around 140psi in R. Max line pressure should be at least 190psi at WOT in 1st or 2nd, 225psi is optimum. If base pressure is low, trans or pump is worn out. If max pressure is low, check EPC solenoid. If reverse is slow to engage, and line pressure does not come up to at least 130psi in reverse, replace the boost valve with a Transgo 0.500" boost valve (easy fix in pan).
No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

Good luck and keep me posted.

1993 Suburban 4 speed automatic transmission shifts hard front 1st to second. Transmission is 3 years old, 15,000 miles. It is a factory rebuilt.

That should be the L60-4 truck version
Have the sedan version, 93 Caprice.
That was the first year of the new electronic shifting transmission.
Especialy when cold she will shift hard, but it's normal.
But that depends on what you call normal.
I have gotten used to it over the last 17 years.
