My check engine light on my 07 saturn ion keeps coming on and gives the code p1174 and p0300 what do they mean and how do i fix

Check Engine Light On, P0300 Random Misfire Code. A random misfire means your engine is misfiring, but that the problem is not isolated to one or two cylinders. It is jumping around in a random way from one cylinder to another. A random misfire code usually means the air/fuel mixture is running lean. Replace plugs wires and coil packs.Check crank /camshaft position sensors, check MAFS

There is a technical service bulletin that states the correct procedure to repair this issue is to replace the injectors with updated units AND reprogram the pcm for the new injectors.

misfire can be elect or fuel related---possibilities are fuel filter/fuel pump--coil going bad --plug wire going or damaged --plug going-cap cracked aged --check plugs if need replacing give car tune up and change fuel filter w/90,000 its due

I had the SAME problem...do you smell any fuel smells? Is your car getting less MPG and is does it have less excelleration? It is the Fuel Injector(s)...

Most likely...one or more has gone bad, I believe this is yet another common problem with the Saturn ION...hhhhmmmm I wonder why they went out of business...

well with a check engine light on you really should have it brought somewhere to read the codes stored in your computer it dont make sense to guess at what the code or problem is,since there are several,several codes.it may be a 02 sensor,a evap code,i think a few of the auto parts places have code readers and read for free.

There is an issue with the engine management in your saturn. If there is an Auto Zone around your area, have them scan the car for a DTC code which would indicate the issue. Auto Zone scan free of charge and can give you the step by step instruction to getting the job done to replace any faulty parts. Note: if the code comes back and a faulty gas cap, buy the OEM from the dealer. All others will fail with in one year. In the mean time open your gas cap and re tighten it and listen for at least three clicks when tightened. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted be glad to help.
