My 2005 Tacoma was hit in the rear and since then not rear lights

My 2005 Tacoma was hit (just cracked the tailight lens - no body damage) in the rear and since then the right tail light, brake light and backup lights do not work. I am trying to remove the tail light assembly but there appears to be a catch holding the assembly that I cannot find. I have removed the 2 bolts that are accessed when you open the tailgate but cannot get the assembly out. Is there another bolt, clip, etc that must also be removed?

You did right so far. Once you have lowered the tailgate and removed the upper and lower 10mm bolts the tail light assembly should be loose and moving a little bit. There are only 2 push-in plastic posts holding it at this point now. Then you have to pull back the assembly firmly, hit on the external side of the assembly with the palm of your hand and it will pop out. DO NOT try to pry with a screwdriver or any other tools.

Disconnect wires connections, replace burned or broken bulbs, make test. If it doesn't work check if the wiring has been affected by the accident.

Hope it will help
Dan

No rear running lights. Turn and brake lights work. what do I do

The tail lights are also called parking lights.
There is a 10amp fuse for each rear parking lamp. The fuses are in the rear fuse box. Your owner's manual will tell you where that fuse box is located.
The fuses get power from a park lamp relay.

Will I damage or confuse the BCM (Body Control Module) in my 2011 Toyota Tacoma by adding an additional lighting circuit ?

you can connect them to your running lights, they just need to run off any power.doesnt matter where you get it from, but if you want them to come on with the lights thats what i would do.un less you power a switch an run the running boards from the switch.just more work that way, also you have to hit the switch everytime at night.

2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4x4 Light Problem

You checked to make sure you didn't blow all the bulbs at once?
If your front park lights work, then the headlight switch is probably alright.
You may have a taillight relay in your fusebox. Check the owner's manual. It may show it.

Replacing 92 Explorer right rear signal bulb

laurbeee,

As I have just seen this post I may be late in answering.

1. Open the hatch and look for the two screws on top of the tailight.
2. Take these out with a No.3 Phillips head screwdriver.
3. Pull on the tailight gently outward as the plastic inserts are what holds the lens in the body.
4. Locate the lamp for replacement and twist the lamp socket out of the lens.
5. Replace the bulb with the new one making sure to leave it clean of any oils from your hands. Twist the socket back into the lens.
6. Reasemble the lens back into the body and replace screws.

Brake light and turn signal light not working

Did the new lens come with new sockets? If not damage may have occured there that you cant see. only other possibilty is wiring damage in the rear that may be hard to see. The condition you describe is simple "backfeeding" if you look hard enough youll either find bad sockets or damaged wires close to the lens that took the hit. Hope this helped. Thanks
