I have a 2008 Pt Cruiser when starting the car and when shifting into Drive theres a yellow (!) appears directly under the "D"=drive signal .What does that mean and my steering wheel shakes alot while driving
The ! (sits in a U shaped icon) indicates uneven or low tire pressure. This could also contribute to the steering wheel shaking, although that usually indicates tires out of balance or suspension out of alignment.

OK... brains are expensive. It sounds like your PT STARTS OK, but keeps your TRANSMISSION locked.
Many transmissions have a 'lock' that is coupled to the car BRAKES. So the transmission may not allow SHIFTING if the BRAKE SWITCH is not sensed as 'brakes applied'.
APPLIED BRAKES = OK TO START/SHIFT. So it's possible a defective switch is your problem?
And there is this: "You Probably have a 604 41 TE auto trans (this is a four speed automatic trans)and if this is the case. Then you need to have the input and the output turbine sensor's replaced,(aka speed sensor) same thing different name. These sensors are cheap and have a high failure rate due to high temps the trans produces."
Sounds like the shift lock solenoid is not working, there could be a couple of different things causing this. First thing I would check is the brake light switch witch is located under the dash on the brake pedal assy.. The second thing it could be is the shift lock solenoid its self, wich is located around or near the shifter.
you might have some wire toughing the ground rabbing when put it in reverse the eng shiftting causing wires to stretch and might touching ground or hot wire
sounds like you have broken shifter cable..if you remove battery and tray..you can see if cable is moving shift lever on trans..if it is,you may have something broken in trans on valve body
