My jeep is having a spark problem i change the spark plugs and the distributer cap and after that the r.p.m reeve up and down

Double check becouse u might hit accidentally a vacuum hose so look for the hose that disconnected then connect it

Remove distributor cap have someone tap the key while you watch the rotor inside the distributor if it does not move that is the problem then it could be the gear shear pin has broke or cam is not turning distributor.

Use some WD-40 or red RustCheck and spray down the cap and wires, making sure you get the gap between the cap and distributor.This will seal it up so moisture can't get into the system. Hope this helps.

yah direct ignition coil pack does away for the need a a distributer cap and rotor.much higher energy ignition system where the computer tell when to fire.if that helps.not hard to change.as long as you change them one at a time so you don't screw up the order.

change the pickup coil, it is the box connected to the distributer by a wire
