Usually the secondary fan only come on when you are running the airconditioner as that will make engine run hotter so then the sercondary comes on so engine doesnt overheat.Start vehicle warm up and then turn on ac fan and see if the secondary comes on it should.

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

The cooling fans won't turn on..

Did you try your radiator fan relay ? if thats not it i would try the coolant temp switch for the engine control computer . lastly if those dont solve the problem you have ecu issues or the cooling fan module.

2004 mazda mpv engine racing and cooling fan not working

coolant temp sensor tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is so it can regulate the idle and fuel mixture, when it fails there usually is no cooling fan and you will have trouble starting the engine and keeping it running.

Cooling fan will not come on. about two weeks ago car started to overheat. then heard a clicking sound. car then stalled

if the cooling fan didn`t come on then you need to find out why.is the cooling fan motor seized or is the fan not being sent a signal from the ecm(computer) to turn on the fan through the cooling fan relay.if you take and unplug the cooling fan and run a power wire and ground wire to the connectors at the fan and it won`t work then the fan is seized and needs replacing.this is the most common problem with these.the other is the relay.if the ecm isn`t receiving a signal from the cooling system sensor then it may or may not turn on the check engine light.then you may have to have it checked with a scan tool that will show you what the ecm is seeing,to see if the temp is registering with the ecm.

Fan won't kick on a 2006 dodge magnum. want to know where to look for the fuse.

you need to check the fuses in the panel both under the dash and under the hood.if these are okay then you will have to check the fan itself to make sure the fan is working.other things are the fan relay and temp sensor that tell the pcm to turn on the cooling fans,if you are talking about the rad cooling fan.

Cooling fan on a Landrover LR2 2008 won't turn on. thermostat has been replaced. what could be cooling fan problem?

Hi belindacavey,

I have seen a few problems with the cooling fan on Land Rovers. Usually the relay portion of the fan fails. For a while Land Rover had fans on back-order because so many where failing. I would recommend having the fan/relay checked. FYI the relay module and the fan are usually one assembly.
