I've changed the bearing on the front passenger side of my car. It was shaking substantially. It did ok for about half a day, and then started shaking again. The tire is balanced and in excellent conditioning. Before I replace the wheel hub/bearing assembly ($159 for the part) is there any thing else I can check first?
Is the shaking the only reason you changed the bearing assembly,
usually your going to get the wheel bearing sound of growling for a long time before you get any shaking,
have you checked the ball joint with a jack in the loaded
position,
next check inner and outer tie rods closely,
i would lean towards the ball joint since you moved its position when you replaced the bearing and no noise right away.the only left is did you use an air gun to tighten the CV shaft nut.
It could be your ball joints

I should of mentioned, when I jack the car up, I can literally pull on the tire and it has about half an inch of play at 12 and 6 oclock and 3 and 9 oclock. I took it to "professional" and he said it was a worn wheel hub/bearing assembly... but the answers I've seen here seem a lot more likely.
