Tip & How-To about Honda Accord

How to pull the codes out of early 90's honda and acura's

To get the codes out of the computer you will need to locate the diagnostic connector two pin plug on the passenger side of the car under the dash board were the dash meets the side kick panel. it will be tucked up there and it will look like a connector that is not plugged into anything. take a piece of wire and jump the two cavity's in the connector and turn the key to the on position.

the light will start to flash. at first it will look random but it is not. there are 1 - 9 and they will be short pulses of the light and then there is 10 - 43 , the long flashes are the first # of the code and the short ones are the second #. write down the codes or code and they maybe more than one but it will keep repeating them until you turn the key off and remove jumper.

then once you have the code(s) you can go here to get the definition of it.

where is the diagnostic port located on an isuzu trooper 1995 V6 model

You can get the check engine light codes yourself on 1985-94 Isuzu vehicles by using a jumper wire between terminal pins 1 and 3 or A and B in the diagnostic connector. This diagnostic connector can be located anywhere from the driver side kick panel, passenger kick panel and sometimes at the center console. When using A and B terminal pins, getting the codes is similar to GM vehicles. Once the jumper wire is connected, turn your key on and read the codes being flashed in the dash panel.

92 Honda Accord Automatic Transmission When started in P it goes in reverse so P and R are both reverse. but now it won't go out of 1 2 or D3.

Hi there,

As your auto transmission is fully electronic, we can firstly rule out any Fault Codes in the transmission computer, by checking for any existing Diagnostic Trouble codes (DTC's).

I will need you to confirm for me, which of the Diagnostic connectors your vehicle has:

1) 16 Pin connector - found under the dash, above either driver or passenger knee.

OR

2) Double blade (male) connector (usally green) - this can be found in either under driver's side dash, passenger's side dash, under driver's seat, under front passenger's seat, under passenger's side carpet (or flap in carpet).

Please confirm which of these your vehicle has, and I will provide you with instructions on how to extract the transmission computer codes (if any).

You need to do this step, before suspecting mechanical failure.

Hi there,

The Engine Check light is a signal that the Engine's computer has identified a problem somewhere.

As your engine is EFI, we can firstly rule out any Fault Codes in the engine computer, by checking for any existing Diagnostic Trouble codes (DTC's).
