Front blower motor on 2005 dodge caravan not working

Rear blower motor is working; heater is working (can feel the heat coming through the pipes), but when I turn on the fan to distribute the heat in the front of the van, it don't work. I understand there used to be a reset button for the blower moter on 2004 models, are we lucky enough to have one on the newer 2005 models?

I'm having the same problem. What bulletin board are you referring to?

  • noisynanny Jan 20, 2010

After replacing the blower motor (pain to get out and back in), the blower still was not working. Replaced the resistor (so much easier, wish I had tried that first) the blower is working now!

    Thanks!!!!

2005 grand caravan front heater and defrorst not working ,rear heater is working . i also hear a hissing noice on the passenger side

Just a suspicion: hissing noise comes from failed/jammed/malfunctioning motor to move the door
in the ducting to route heated air to the hoses/ports for "heater" and "defrost."
Problem: failure of motor/linkage to heater/defrost selector door under the dash on the passenger side.
Also sounds like you have not blown fuse to this selector door.
Also - hissing noise could be air being forced against the closed door (which should be open) - in this
case, you'd want to check the fuse to the heater/defroster actuator door.
The rear heater works since its function is not related to the operation of the front heater/defroster.

Wiring diagram for 2005 Dodge Caravan, rear blower for heating /AC

The most common problem would be a bad blower at which you can test for power at the motor connector with a testlight, the other most common problem is the resisitor ,theres one for the front blower and one for the rear blower, you may have a bad resisitor for the rear blower this resistor is located next to blower.theres also arelay in the fuse/relay box next to the battery under the hood, the best thing is to start testing for ower at the switch and work your way to resistor, i think you will find a bad resistor to rear blower motor.heres a complete wiring diagram of the whole front and rear heat and ac unit, everything is labeled good luck.johnjohn2_51.gif

The front heater/air conditioner blower stopped

First check the voltage at the front blower moter. If it has voltage then it may just need a new motor.

The rear blower works in the rear but not in the frount. The rear is still getting heat & Ac but not the front.

This might be a blower motor, there are 2 of this van 1 for the rear and 1 for the front. I would check all your fuses, in the cab. also it may be a blower motor resistor not sure if it uses the same one as the back blower. lastly your blower motor switch could have a problem. good luck

Heater fan no workie

Hi my name is Allen!

If the blower motor is not working the most likely cause is the blower resister, but you must replace the blower motor also because the resistance build-up inside the motor is what damages the resister.
