Question about 1983 Ford Fairmont
1980's model 351C with FMX auto...
If engine revs are high (2500rpm) in neutral and either D or 1st selected,(EG: Street Drag Race / Motorkarna style race start) the transmission seems to remain in neutral and wont engage forward until the revs drop down and the T-bar is moved back to neutral and then back D or 1st...
Auto oil is full.
Modulator Vacuum hose OK. Full throttle Kick-down rod has been removed..
Could this a feature of the FMX where is wont engage drive when the revs are too high???
A CLEVELAND ENGINE IN A FAIRMONT????HMMMMMMMMMMMM....SOUNDS LIKE THE PUMP IS GOING BAD. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND JUK THE FMX AND GET A GOOD USED OR REBUILT C-6 INSTEAD.
