I have a 1993 Volvo I purchased new almost 17

I have a 1993 Volvo 240 I purchased new almost 17 years ago. Recently there is a strange and annoying whining noise from the rear right it is audible only over 50 mph. Is this tire noise or someting more serious? Otherwise the car is great. Always well maintained.

Could be tire noise, could be rear wheel bearing, differential (if rear wheel driven), or could be something associated with the brake.

Try swapping the tire with another tire. If the noise moves with the tire, it's the tire. If it stays, it's brakes (unlikely for the noise you mention), rear wheel bearing, or rear differential (lack of oil). Will probably need to have a mechanic to identify and repair.

Why does my 2003 ford f 150 keep cutting out while i am driving

My 1993 chevy 1500 kept doing the same thing. Everyone kept telling me different answers. First i did a nice tune up (replace spark plugs and spark plug wires). This helped a little bit but didnt solve it completely. I went to my local garage and he put on a new module unit and distributor. I have never had the problem sense then and that was 2 years ago. I sold it 6 months ago to my neighbor and it is still running strong. I hope this helps, i know how annoying that was, and embarrassing, especially when going through town.

Sounds like a faulty injector, had the same problem about 2 years ago cost over £1500 to have new injectors fitted.

It might be worth trying some redex or similar cleaning product incase its just blocked.

Volvo 740 gl 1988 b230f automatic 4 speed transmission....Strange vibration at 50 to 90 kmh...

You don't give any details about the vibration, you know what "strange" means but the rest of us have to make a guess.

The most likely cause is that the wheels are out of balance. This can happen if you've recently struck a kerb or pothole, if an existing balance weight has fallen off, if you have recently removed a wheel and refitted it, or if you've had a tyre repaired or replaced without having the wheel rebalanced afterwards.

There are many other potential causes, but getting the wheel balancing checked and adjusted is the cheapest and easiest thing to start with. Get the balancing checked and then report back if the problem is not resolved.

Central locking on volvo 850 1996

Happened to me after first purchasing my 850 - check the fuse for the CLS, as mine (for some reason) was too narrow, and was jostling about. Once I changed it out for a new fuse, no problems at all (I performed this fix a year ago, and no problems since).
