If the coolant is actually low when you add fluid and it turns the light off then you are losing coolant somewhere if it is smoking inside the vehicle then check the heater core for leaks if its smoking out the exuast head/intake gaskets

I dont remember the lumina having a low coolant light.

It does have a low washer fluid light though.

You can see if you coolant overflow bottle is full. If it isnt, fill it to the hot or cold mark on the side.

Fill your windshield fluid too and see if the light goes out.

Good luck and be safe!

Acadia white smoke, high temp and fan won't come on

Do you have an extended warranty ?
Usually white smoke from the exhaust means the engine is burning coolant thru a blown head gasket or intake gasket.
You should also be low on coolant in the radiator.

Coolant light on and leaking coolant... now white smoke and car will not start

You really won't know until you take the intake off.
There could be other problems that caused the leak before the intake cracked.
Until the intake is replaced you won't be able to do a pressure test of the cooling system.
Make sure the thermostat is replaced since it could have been damaged from the overheating episode.

I get no heat out of the heater. Coolant level is ok. Thermostat has been replaced recently. Is there a heater control valve to direct hot coolant to the heater core?

Vaccuum control valve for heater, is stuck or broke. This allows the antifreese to flow through the heater and heat the inside of vehicle. Ccheck vaccuum lines and valve, its by the heater core.
Also, if the antifreese has not been changed, it can clog the heater core not allowing the antifreese to flow. Flush system and check again.

I have a 98 Kia Sephia. When I turned on the heater it blows cold air and smoke came from underneath the hood while the heater was on. Turned the heater off and car. After a while off it stopped smoking....

Check to see if you have lost antifreeze. If the coolant reservoir tank is low or empty, check the radiator, but wait till the car has cooled down before opening the radiator cap. Low coolant level is sometimes the cause of poor heater performance, but your car may have a leaking heater core or hose. Feel the hoses for any wetness-they are behind the engine and enter the firewall behind the engine. The coolant may have got on the hot exhaust pipes and caused the smoke. But you will have to check for that or for what caused the smoking, when the heater was turned on. First check the coolant level and add a pre-mixed 50/50 solution of antifreeze and water if needed.

The light you see is for low coolant (you can see the symbol again, you get a bulb check each time you turn the key on, it only lasts a short time) you are either low on coolant and/or the cooling fans are not coming on

My engine light is on and now flashing the car wont stay running , have a bad noise antifreese gets low later it runs fine no noise then again

Bring it to a repair shop ASAP, especially if there is smoke comming out of the tail pipe. You could have a bad head gasket or a leak in you cooling system, OR A DEFECTIVE WATER PUMP, that can lead to some VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS.

The coolant light keeps coming on but the car is not overheating. it does leak coolant every now and again not all the time.

it is the coolant level sensor that is making the light come on, your car does not have to be overheating for it to come on.
once the coolant level goes below the sensor it turns the light on.
If you fix the leak it will stop the light going on unless the sensor is faulty.
Hope this has helped.

1st before you drive the car make sure the coolant level is ok,check oil. If the smoke coming out the muffler is white you could have a bad intake gasket or head gasket, check to see if there is coolant in oil, if the oil looks like chocolate milk you have an internal coolant leak. The lights are probably telling you your engine is overheating and low on coolant.

sounds like you have a blown head gasket this would explain loss of coolant and running poorly excessive smoke.
