Getting ready to purchase 2002 chrysler sebring. Took it for a 15 mile test drive and the oil light kept flashing and the car made a ticking noise the whole time. Any ideas? It has 102,000 miles.

Yes I have one. Do not buy. That light mean the oil pump is going out like mine did. I ended up having to rebuild heads and waater pump and everything. Now I have a cold start problem. DON"T BUY MITSUBISHI CROSSOVER PRODUCTS ON CHRYSLER!!!!!!!!!

Recommendation... Do Not purchase an 02 chrysler sebring! While it is a cute car and looks nice, they have consistently been rated as one of the worst vehicles based on expense of shop repairs, and also rated one of the worst vehicles for amount of time spent in shops. The oil light flashing is a sign that the car should not be driven due to not enough oil in the vehicle, any owner who overlooks that light, especially when trying to sell it, has obviously not taken very good care of it, therefor another reason.. NOT to by a chrysler sebring.

2004 chrysler sebring... when i drive it more then 30 miles there is a ticking sound in the engine, theres a squeaky noise in the front when i go over a bumb. and the major thing is that theres a harsh...

Ticking in motor after engine heats up- do you keep your oil changed every 3,000 miles? Broken down and dirty oil will cause this. Squeek over bumps could be bad strut or it could be related to the harsh grinding noise going around turns. That is indicative of a bad CV joint or wheel bearing.
Raise car on side noise is coming from. Grab wheel with both hands and pull/push on wheel then wiggle back and forth. Feel excessive play? Grab drive axle also doing same thing feel for play or notice if rubber boot on drive axle torn or separated from axle. Usually you will feel play or notice a kind of clunking. I would say replace CV joint and wheel bearing at the same time as one will usually affect the other and both will be bad if one has went out. Not an easy fix and requires special tools. Take to a qualified mechanic, it will save you a big headache.

Lifter ticking

You may have a dirty lifter with varnish buildup. Try this as it may very well solve the problem. Purchase a can of Seafoam Motor Treatment. Add 1.5 oz of Seafoam for each quart of oil capacity. 4.5 Quarts = 6.75 oz Seafoam. Drive the car until you no longer hear the lifter and then have the oil/filter changed again. Next oil change use a quality filter such as Wix, Mopar, or Purolator. You can purchase Seafoam at almost any auto parts or marine store and at some Walmart stores. Here is their website. http://www.seafoamsales.com/

1999 Chrsler Sebring LXi v6 2.5L. Car dies.

I had the same problem with my 1999 Chrysler Sebring 2.5L V6 Convertable. It started stalling at intersections; would lose RPMs' and die while driving it; and would not start unless it sat for a few minutes. Once it started, you'd have the scenario start all over again...

I hadn't kept up my maintenance schedule like I usually do, so I did the usual; I replaced my spark plugs and wires, changed the oil and filters, ect...

Finally, after it doing the same thing and wasting a ton of time and frustration on the side of the road, I took it to a mechanic that put it on his $9,000 diagnostic machine. The verdict; CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR!

The Haynes Manual will tell you wrong on its location for the 1999 Lxi 2.5L V6 convertable; it is NOT LOCATED BEHIND THE BATTERY TRAY. The crankshaft position sensor is actually located about 4 to 6 inches below the distributor, which is about dead center of the motor, on the transaxle housing.

You do have to take off the tire and the skirt cover to get to it. I had to purchase two long socket extensions just to get to the bolt that mounts the sensor to the transaxle housing; but it was well worth the 20 bucks...

All in all, it took me three hours to find the damn thing, and then to figure out what I needed to take the old one off and get the new one installed.

The $65 dollars that I spent to find out what the problem was is worth it....

Now, the car runs better than ever....

Oil light on while driving 2002 Sebring

2.7 ? This motor has oil problems if not changed every 3000 miles. Put a chrysler filter on it and the correct weight of oil, never use a fram oil filter.

Oil light

I suspect that the oil pump is weak or it has a lot of miles. I would try a little thicker oil first to see if this helps with the light. Maybe even use a 20/50
