Trouble Ejecting CD. I have stock radio with CD player only. I inserted a cd and it errored. Now it will not eject the cd or play it for that matter.
When I press eject or switch to cd from radio, the disc indicator goes dark for a few seconds, but there is no indication of any operation. no noise like something is stuck. no spinning like its trying to play.
Radio works fine.
Anyone else know of this problem? Is there a way to manually eject a cd?
I'm probably going to just replace this unit, but thought I'd check here first.

There could be several reasons why the CD cartridge is not ejecting from your 2003 BMW X5 E53. Here are some steps you can try to get it out and potential causes of the issue:
Check the CD player: First, make sure that the CD player is on and functioning properly. If the player is not working, it may not be able to eject the cartridge. Check the player for any error messages or signs of malfunction.
Press the eject button: Try pressing the eject button on the CD player. If the cartridge is still not ejecting, you may need to try a different method.
Use a thin object: If the eject button is not working, you can try using a thin object, such as a paperclip or needle, to press the eject button. Insert the object into the small hole near the eject button and push gently. This may release the cartridge.
Check the cartridge: If the cartridge is still not ejecting, there may be a problem with the cartridge itself. Check the cartridge for any signs of damage or wear. Make sure that the CDs are properly inserted into the cartridge.
Check the CD player mechanism: If the cartridge is not damaged and the CD player is functioning properly, the issue may be with the CD player mechanism. In this case, you may need to take the car to a mechanic or a BMW dealership for repair.
It's worth noting that some BMW models have a security feature that prevents the CD cartridge from ejecting if the battery has been disconnected or the car has been jump-started. If this is the case, you may need to enter a security code to unlock the CD player before you can eject the cartridge. Check your car's manual for instructions on how to enter the security code.

You listed this in the auto section, so I'm not sure just where you have the problem. When you receive an error like this and you've tried several disks with the same result it means your CD player is bad and must be replaced.
Try getting a cd cleaning tool come with a disk with tiny brushes on it and cleaning solution to clean the eye or if you are using burned cds try and see what format you are buring such as mp3s mp4s some cd player only will play a certain formats such as mp3s.
had to replace player twice, luckily it was under warranty. FACTORY PLAYER JAMS EASILY !!! What I have learned is to put cd player in radio mode before ejecting instead skipping form disc to disc.
