Why are you changing your tach and speedo? Ther are nothing but a needle . They are run by a stepper motor (which are known to fail.) Change the stepper motor in the instrument cluster, The stepper motor is about 6 bucks on ebay for the new and improved version. It is soldered into the pc board in your instrument cluster. They even come with directions how to do it..

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 6.6 liter diesel looking for body control modular I think it's under the dash driver side not for sure though and do you have to take the dash out to replace it

it is located under the steering column. you'll only need to remove the knee board cover. it sits in a large bracket. see picture

The speedometer on my 04 gmc sierra is stuck reading speed about 40 mph over actual speed? can it be reset?

Sadly, no. What has happened is that the tiny servo motor that moves the speedometer needle is failing. When I run into these we remove the dash assembly and send it out to be repaired, usually by a dealer although there are other companies that can do this too. Usually they replace all the servo motors and backlight bulbs during the repairs but make sure you ask if they do so just to be sure.

I have a 98 chev 1/2 ton with no tac or speedometer sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. plus when it doesn't work i have no 2nd and 3rd gear.

VSS can be bad and the 3 & 4 shift solenoid can be bad. Get a free computer test scan at any Auti Zone to confirm my findings

Electrical Problem with speed gauge, RPM and dash board lignts.

That is a manufacturing defect associated with your instrument cluster. My local dealer replaced my entire instrument cluster for free (truck was out of warranty) when my speedometer showed 100 mph in a parking lot and my oil pressure gauge read 0.

The dash board panel lights are out for the most part. The speedo is 1/2 iluminated. Could this be a fuse ? If not, how involved is it to change the lights?

i think it could be bulb issue.

you have to remove the dash board and replace bulbs that are busted. replacing the bulb is no problem . the problem is taking the dash off. need to remove the dash cover first before you can remove the actual dash.

another thing to consider is the speedometer cable which is attached at the center of the gauge.
